     Chapter 7 - Been That Way

Nebbie was on her way to work before calling Benjamin on the phone. She wanted to talk to him about Adonis because Benjamin hate being the last one to know things.

"Hey Benjamin!" Nebbie greeted.

"Girl it's too early for you to be calling me," Benjamin said.

"Oh I forgot about the time zones. Anyways I got so much tell you."

"Spill it."

"I went on a date with DeMarcus and guess who was there."

"Ugh...My father."

"No! Adonis and he had a date or whatever. So that night DeMarcus and I broke up because I realized that I'm not over Adonis. So on Saturday I saw him at the mall and my momma pressured me talk to him. So we talked and everything in the air was clear. We hugged afterwards and then this morning he texted me good morning. I just really miss him."

"Oh...wow. Well I glad you left DeMarcus because he wasn't your type. I'm glad you and Adonis are talking because I can tell in your tone that you are happier than you were."

"Yeah we decided to take it slow."

"Yeah right I'll give you a month before your start making love faces."

"You can't sing and I miss your crazy ass when you coming back here."

"Soon..."

"You always say that."

"This time I'm serious."

"Mhmmm."

"Bye, Nebbie. I'm going back to sleep."

"Bye, Benji." Nebbie ended the phone call and went into work.

Adonis got out his car and went into his mom's house. April moved back to Washington when she found out that Nebbie was pregnant. She wanted to be in her grandchild's life. But she was still supportive when the baby was lost. Adonis used his key to open the door. He saw his mom drawing his mother was always an artist. Adonis could draw but not as good as his mom.

"Hey momma!" Adonis greeted. April looked up at him.

"Hey my love! What are you doing here?" April asked.

"I came to talk and for some advice."

"Sure come sit next to me." Adonis sat to next to his mom.

"Where's Robert?" April and her boyfriend, Robert, moved her together. They started dating when Adonis left Compton. At first, he was upset but he saw how happy she was and he decided to give Robert a chance. Robert and Adonis got along well. Robert had a daughter but she lived in Los Angeles.

"He went to go get me some food."

"You always sending him to do something."

"That's what he supposed to do." Adonis laughed. "So what is it you want to tell me about."

"Nebbie and I are on good terms."

"I'm so happy! It's about time you patched things up!"

"Yeah she told me why she left and I understood. It's hard trying to bring the love back after a tragedy."

"That's great so where do y'all stand."

"We're just taking it slow. That's what she wants I know we can't just jump back into a relationship."
