The Secret

Chapter 12

I woke up to the nurse shaking me awake. "Ariel, I have to check you to see if everything is ok" she said. "Ok" I said and she helped me sit up. She checked my pulse and my breathing. "Do you feel ok?" she asked, taking off the stethoscope out of her ears. "Yea, I feel better" I said. She just shook her head and told me that she was going to go get me breakfast. I shook my head and laid back down and closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep. I woke up and saw all the boys standing around my bed. "Why are all of you, around my bed?" I said, looking at all of them. "Because we're bored" Jai said. "Ok, how long have you guys been standing there?" I said. "For like 10 minutes" James said. "Ok" I said. "You guys are weird" I said. They just smiled and rolled their eyes. I looked to my left and saw that Luke was still sleeping. "How is he still sleeping?" I said. "He's a heavy sleeper" Jai said. I just shook my head. The nurse came in with my breakfast. "Hey Ariel, here's your breakfast" she said, smiling at me. "Thanks Jenn" I said, smiling back at her. "Jenn, do you know when I get to leave the hospital?" I asked. "No, sorry hun" she said. " It's ok" I said. She smiled at me and left. I sighed. "Why do you want to leave so bad?" James asked. "Because I hate hospitals" I said. "Why" James asked. "Just because" I said. He didn't asked anymore. Jai helped me sit up and opened my tray for me. "Thanks" I said, smiling up at him. "You're welcome" he said. He smiled down at me and kissed the top of my head. "You want some?" I said. "No thanks, I hate hospital food" he said. I shrugged and ate my food. I finished my food and pushed the tray away. I laid back down and sighed. "Are you ok?" Daniel asked. "Yea, it just hurts to sit up for a while" I said. "Why?" he asked. "Cause my scars haven't healed and when I sit up, it feels like my scars are being stretched out" I said. "oh" he said. I looked at Luke, who was still sleeping. I shook him and pulled his hair. Nothing. I slapped him. Nothing. "Damn" I said and gave up on waking him up. "Hey guys, where's Beau?" I said, noticing that he wasn't in the room with us. "He left home with my mom" Jai said. I just nodded. I heard a knock at the door and looked to see who it was. I saw the doctor and instantly got excited. "Hello Ms. Rodriguez" the doctor said, walking over to me. I just waved at him. "So, I know you are probably wondering, when you are going to get out of here" he said, smiling at me. "Yes" I said. "So, good news is that you are leaving today" he said. "Ok, what's the bad news?" I asked. "There is no bad news" he said. "Oh, ok, usually there's bad news" I said. "Nope, that's it, just take Advil or Ibuprofen when you have pain" he said, getting up. "Ok, thank you" I said and he left. "Jai, call your mom and tell her to pick us up" I said. He shook his head and walked out the room. Jai came back a few minutes later, telling us to get ready to leave. Jai and I shook Luke awake and told him to get ready. Luke helped me to the bathroom and closed door. "You're gonna stay in here?" I asked. "Yea, what if you fall or something" he said. "Ok" I said. I put the cover down of the toilet and sat down. I looked at Luke and he looked back at me. "Turn around" I sai. He sighed and turned around. I put on my denim shorts and my flowery blue shirt on and my blue chucks on. "You can turn around" I said. He turned around and walked over to me. "Why do you always tell me to turn around?" he asked, looking down at me. "Because, I feel insecure when you see me change" I said, avoiding eye contact. "But, before you let me stay in the room when you changed your clothes and you never told me to turn around or anything" he said. "Yea, that was before everything happened" I said. Luke bent down and lifted my chin so that I was looking at him in the eyes. "Did your dad do something else then beat you?" he asked. I didn't say anything. His face turned from worried to serious. "What did he do to you?" he said, getting angry. My eyes started to get watery and I removed his fingers away from my face. "Ariel, you can tell me, don't you trust me?" he asked. "I do but if I tell you, I am afraid that you won't love me or you will leave me" I said. "How many times do I have to tell you that I am not going to leave you, you need to stop doubting me" Luke said. "I don't doubt you, it's just, you never know" I said. "Do you want to tell me, it's ok if you don't want to tell me. I will love you always and forever" he said, intertwining our fingers. " You're bound to know one day or another" I said, looking at our hands. I sighed. "My dad did do more than just beat me. He raped me too" I said, looking up at Luke.  Luke didn't say anything. He just looked at me. I saw his eyes get watery, I gave him a hug. "Don't cry" I said. "I feel like, I could have done something" he said. "No one could have done anything" I said. We sat there for like 5 minutes, just hugging each other. Luke pulled away and wiped his tears. "Did he use protection?" he asked randomly. I closed my eyes and shook my head no. I opened my eyes and tears fell down my cheeks. More tears fell down Luke's cheeks. "He was so drunk that he forgot to use it" I said. He just shook his head and looked at the ground. "I got pregnant at the age of 15 and after I gave birth, I had to hide the baby from him or he would have killed her" I said. "So where is she now?" he asked, looking up at me. "My bestfriends mom has her. She promised to take care of here until I was old enough to take her back" I said. "Does she know you are her mom" he asked. "Yea, I gave her away when she was a newborn and Janie always shows her pictures of me and tells her that I am her mom" I said. "Oh" was all he said. "If you want, we can pick her up from her friends house and we can take her with us to California" Luke said, smiling at me. I smiled at him. "Yes" I said, giving him a hug. Luke picked me bridal style and exited the bathroom. "What were you guys doing in there?" Jai asked smirking. "Nothing that you're thinking about?" I said. Luke laid me down on the bed and sat on the other side of me. "So, what were you guys talking about?" James asked. I looked over at Luke. He shook his head yes and I looked back at the boys. "Guys, I need to tell you something" I said, playing with the bed sheets. "What is it?" Daniel asked. "I've been keeping a secret from you and I think it's time that I tell you" I said. I sighed and started "I got raped by dad a few years ago and I have a kid" I said, looking up at them. They all stood there shock. "I know I should have told you earlier but I was afraid you guys will treat me differently or just leave me" I said. "We will never leave you Ariel, we will always be here for you" Jai said. I smiled at them and they came over and gave me a group hug. I laughed and they pulled away. "So, now that we are going to move to California, what are you going to do about your kid" James asked. "She's coming with us" I said, smiling. "Cool" They all said. "Don't teach her anything crazy" I said, pointing at all of them. "Yea, ok" Jai said. I laughed. "How old is she now?" Daniel asked. "She is 1 now" I said. "When is her birthday" Jai asked. "Her birthday is June 15" I said. "Wow, you remember everything" Daniel asked. "Well, i'm suppose to, I am her mother" I said in a "duh" tone. He just rolled his eyes and laughed. "Hey guys, ready to go?" Gina said entering the room. We shook our head yes and walked to the waiting room for her to sign me out. She walked over to me and gave me a side hug. "How you feeling?" she asked. "I'm feeling better than I was when I woke up in the hospital bed" I said. "That's good" she said. "Promise me you won't ever do that again. We thought you were dead and Luke was losing his mind from seeing you like that" she said, looking at me. "I promise" I said. "If you ever have a problem, come talk to me. Don't keep it all bottled up" she said smiling at me. "Ok" I said, smiling back at her. We got to the desk and she signed us out. We got in the car and I forgot to tell Gina about my secret. "Jai, did you tell your mom about my thing" I said. He shook his head yes and went back to looking out the window. We got to the house and I went to Luke's room and packed all the stuff that I had. Which isn't much. Luke and Jai walked in and started packing too. "Do you guys need help?" I asked, already done with packing. "No, we started packing the day before the incident happened and there's only a little bit of clothes" Jai said. "Ok, Luke when can you go with me to pick up my daughter?" I asked. "When I am done packing, I can go with you" he said, looking up at me. "Ok" I said. "Ariel, what's your daughter's name?" Jai asked. I smiled, thinking about seeing her again. "Her name is Roselyn" I said. "Aw, that's a cute name" Jai said. Luke shook his head agreeing with Jai. "Thanks" I said. They finished packing and Luke and I went to go get Roselyn. I hope she remembers me and I hope she doesn't feel like I abandon her.
