Chapter 23 On the road again

Bella's pov

I was helping Rick walk cause Carl was ahead of us obviously pissed off.

"Carl, Carl slow down" Rick croaked out. Carl didn't and ignored Rick by continuing to walk.

"CARL STOP" Rick managed to yell out. He finally stopped but he stared straight ahead. When we reached him he was glaring at the ground. I glared at him.

Carl look at your dad, he is in no condition for your shit ok. So just stop acting like a fucking kid and pull your head out of your ass I said. He glared at me and if looks could kill I'd be dead. We kept walking until a neighborhood came into sight. Carl walked right up to house and Rick didn't like that.

"Carl you and Bella stay out here I'll clear it" Rick said managing to fix his breathing. I shook my head no, he was not in the right state to go inside. Carl walked in anyway rolling his eyes. So Rick and I followed him in but Carl was walking down a hallway not a care in the world of what could be in here.

"Carl stop you don't know what's in here" Rick said leaning against the wall. Carl turned around an angry expression on his face. Carl raised his hand and started banging it against the wall.

"HEY ASSHOLE, HEY SHITFACE, HEY-" Carl screamed.

"Carl watch your mouth" Rick said cutting him off from whatever swear word he was going to use next.

"If there were any in here they would've come out by now" Carl said angrily. I looked at Rick and shook my head.

We should push the couch against the door just in case I whispered to Rick. He nodded and we pushed it against the door. Carl was tying some cable around the door so walkers couldn't get in but as soon as the couch hit the door he glared at us.

"What I tied a knot, clover hitch it will hold......Shane taught me remember him?" Carl said. Carls attitude is really pissing me off.

"Yea I remember him. I remember him everyday" Rick said looking to the ground. I sighed and closed my eyes before looking up to Carl.

Please Carl. Just stop, I know we lost people at the prison, your sister. I lost my brother, I know what it feels like I said on the verge of crying. His eyes softened as I looked into them. Those bright blue orbs I'll never forget. He sighed walking away from me so I walked to Rick and helped him lay down on the couch. He fell asleep almost instantly so I let him be while I walked up the stairs and into a kids room. I walked into another room and it was awesome.

There was a huge flat scene tv, and so many games. As I walked out I ran into Carl. I tried to walk around him but he grabbed my arm stopping me.

Can I help you? I spat out. He sighed before letting go of my arm.

"Listen Bella I'm sorry for the way I'm acting towards you. My dad thought that playing farmer would solve our problems but it didn't. Everyone at the prison is gone and we're never gonna see them again" Carl said sadly looking at the ground. My heart broke when I came to my senses. I'm never gonna see Glenn, Maggie, Daryl, Beth, Carol, anyone they're all gone.

I know but you should be nicer to your dad he's the only family you have left I whispered walking away into the first room I checked. I laid on the bed looking around the room. A bookshelf caught my eye as I sat up and walked over to it. My eyes scanned through the books as they fell upon Romeo and Juliet. I grabbed the book and walked back over to the bed.

I already know what happens so basically a guy falls in love with the girl but the girls family doesn't want her to date him so they run away somewhere I think and then they made a plan to fake there death if I can remember correctly. And then the girl thinks that the guy died when he was alive so she killed herself and when the guy saw this he killed himself. So Romeo and Juliet together forever I guess.

I started to read the book but my eyelids were getting heavy and soon they shut letting the darkness surround me. I woke up to a loud bang from the door downstairs. I got up my crossbow in hand. I heard walkers but as I looked out the window I saw that Carl already had this covered.

"Hey fresh meat right here follow me" he said then he started walking away backwards.
I let Carl deal with that, so I went through the back door and walked around the neighborhood. I went into the houses looking for anything we might need but there was nothing.

I sighed and turned around heading back to our house. A tree was in the backyard so I used that to climb up. I got in through the window and walked in laying on the bed. My eyes were getting droopy and pretty soon they shut.

I woke up to hear Carl yelling. I got up and walked down the stairs slowly and listened.

"You couldn't protect Shane......mom......you couldn't protect Daryl, Glenn, Michonne, Maggie, and you couldn't protect......Judith. I'd be better off if you died" Carl said. My breathing stopped.

I couldn't believe what he just said. I turned around but the floor made a small creak so I sprinted up the stairs. I heard his footsteps getting closer then he knocked on the door. I sighed and went through the window and sat on the roof.
