~Dan's pov~
(A/N: oooohhh new pov! Different opinions! Wow! WTF am I doing)As Phil and I walked towards the building to get Alana for our day out, I suddenly got really nervous. What if she didn't like us? I had thought the conversation we had had before was really nice, but what if she didn't? I instinctively reached out for Phil's hand, something I had already gotten used to doing in public. Phil looked at me, his face so happy and animated, but when he saw my expression, his changed too. "Dan? Are you okay? We don't have to do this if you're not ready." I shook my head. "No, I'm just worried she'll think we're two boring old men." "Me maybe, but not you. Dan, need I remind you of the fact that I am 5 years older than you? If anything, she'll love you, and hate me."
"No, she'll hate me because she thinks it's weird I'm only 10 years older than her and I'm her legal guardian." I said, shoving his shoulder with mine. Phil suddenly stopped walking. "So we're actually doing this then? We're adopting Alana?" "I guess so. Let's see what happens though." Phil nodded, and pulled me up the stairs and into the building. Then he stood there for a second, looking puzzled. "Erm, Phil? It's just straight down the hall and to your left. There's a sign right there" I said, pointing. "Oh. Haha"When we opened the door to the office, the assistant manager, Evalyn, was waiting for us. "Hello!" She smiled, "I'll be right back with Alana." We stood outside in the hallway, Phil leaning against the door frame, perfectly perfect in every way. The way he stood, doing that weird thing with his hands in his pockets I had come to love. His fringe, not quite neat anymore after we had to run to catch the train, and his face, a mixture of excitement and pure delight, like a five year old with an ice cream cone. I paced, still nervous, but stopped when I heard footsteps on the stairs. It was Evalyn, but soon after, Alana jumped the bottom two steps, a crowd of girls trailing after her. The way her eyes lit up when she saw us, and when she smiled, looked so happy. At the same time, I felt like she was nervous too.
"Hello!" She said, " These are my friends, Eden, Marie, Tanya, Violet, Sara, Alison, Grace, Emma, and Raina!" Phil spoke first, "Oh hi! I'm Phil, and this is Dan." The girls were all lovely, asking us questions, and most of them knew about us doing YouTube, a fact I figured out when Eden asked me to sign her copy of our book. Phil didn't seem to mind, and neither did I, but I did wonder if Alana was just as obsessed as her friends. That could get weird.
Either way, we had to go, so I said, "Well, you've all been lovely, but I think we should go if we want to get anywhere." "Oh, yeah." Alana turned to her friends: "Bye guys, I'll see you in a few hours." Each one said goodbye, waving as they started up the stairs. As we turned outside the building, Evalyn waved goodbye."Have fun!"

I knew Dan had been nervous, but once he saw Alana and how excited she was, he seemed to calm down. Not that he could help it! She was so adorable and bubbly and positive, despite her past. You have to admire someone like that.
"So what do you want to do?" Dan asked her. "I'm not sure," she said, pushing her glasses up on the bridge of her nose, "What do you think?" I suggested lunch, and then seeing what happens. She agreed, then Dan asked, "Where do you want to go?" " I don't really care, wherever." She said. " Dan and I know this really good Italian place not far from here, so we can walk." So we set off through the great urban jungle. As we walked, she asked us about ourselves. I guess since we just talked about her last time she maybe wanted to take the focus off her. She seemed genuinely interested, so we told her. We talked about our families, what we were like when we were her age, and the subject of us being YouTubers was brought up. "Yeah, I watch way too much YouTube, but I've never really watched any of your videos, just heard of them in passing. What's up with the 'Don't cry, craft' thing that happened?" I explained about the video and how that was the slogan. Soon we were at the restaurant, and just as we sat down, Dan asked her, "Where did you learn to play the ukulele?" She looked surprised, but answered anyway; "Well, the year my parents died they let me open one present before they left, and it was my ukulele and a certificate for a year of lessons. I never got the lessons, because I had to go live at my aunt's, but I made a promise to myself to learn anyway, so I guess I taught myself through a combination of YouTube tutorials and just practice." "That's really cool of you," I said, because it was, "Our friend PJ plays the ukulele sometimes." "PJ," she asked, "like that guy; Kickthepj?" Dan nodded. "Yeah."
There was a bit of an awkward silence, and I couldn't help it, I sneezed. Dan said, "Bless you" and Alana told us that the reason people say God bless you is because your heart skips a beat when you sneeze.
After we ate, we just strolled around a bit, and I felt like we talked about everything. I never thought I would run out of things to say, but I did. When we got back to the Orphanage, Alana's friends were waiting for her, and Evalyn came to say hello. "How did it go?" Dan answered; "I went great!" "Yeah," I added, "we had fun, right Alana?" She nodded, and Evalyn said, "Well run along Alana, I have some business to attend to with Mr. Howell and Mr. Lester." "Okay, bye guys!" We said goodbye as she waved and walked away with her friends.
