~Dan's pov~

Today was the day Alana was going to start her new school, and I felt like I should be nervous for her. School was pretty rough for me, but Alana seemed to have always had pretty positive school experiences, a good thing because the rest of her life had been pretty fucked up. I walked her to the gates to make sure she knew her way from home from the school. "Bye Dan! I'll see you later!" Her smile seemed so genuine, I waved back at her, and she disappeared round the gate.

A/N: I'm not exactly sure why I included Dan's pov here. I guess I just wasn't sure what to do with Alana.

~Alana's pov~

Saying goodbye to Dan was really hard, but I think I did an okay job of just smiling and pretending I was fine. As I rounded the corner, I wasn't sure where to go. Then I saw a sign reading 'Office' and I followed it, coming to a door and swinging it open. The receptionist was clicking away at a keyboard, and I coughed, tugging the strap of my bag back up my shoulder. She looked up, "Are you Alana..." she checked a paper on her desk, "Howell-Lester?" It felt weird saying yes, I wasn't used to having a hyphenated surname, much less one where neither was my previous one. The receptionist stood up, and shook hands with me, "I'm Ms. Heather. Come with me." She lead me back outside and across the grass to a tallish girl with straight chestnut hair and a friendly face. "This is Destiny. She will show you around, taking you to classes. We've made sure you have most of your classes together." She left, headed back towards the office. "Hi" Destiny extended her hand, and I shook it, smiling. She seemed pretty friendly. "I think we have Art, English, and Maths together. Art is first, but after that I have P.E. after that so you're on your own for History, but I'll come pick you up." I nodded, still not able to match her cheery tone.

As we headed to art, I was rushing to keep up with her, as I'm pretty sure she possessed super sonic speed. My eyes were on her bright pink converse, and I didn't notice until it was too late that I was going to run into someone. I fell to the floor, and saw a pair of black combat boots in my face. "Sorry, I said to the person, as Destiny helped me up. Then I got a good look at him. Shirtsleeves rolled up, I could tell he had tattoos. My eyes traveled to his face, he was a good eight or so inches taller than me, a bit short of six feet. Bright green eyes were the only thing standing out in a face of darkness. His hair was jet black, and his fringe covered a good portion of the top half of his face. His skin was pale, and his ears pierced. Speaking of ears, Twenty one pilots was blasting from his earbuds, despite the fact they were still in his ears.  I smiled. "What are you smirking about?" His voice was sharp and icy cold. "Erm, nothing." I looked at my feet. "Good." He sauntered away, fixing his fringe in the front camera of his phone, clearly not caring who he knocked over. "Who was that?" I asked Destiny, who was walking even faster now, due to the delay I caused. "That's Lucas. You stay the fuck away from him. Don't mess with him, don't talk to him, don't make eye contact." That's going to be hard, I thought. His eyes were beautiful. "Why though?" I was just curious, other than being pretty cold he didn't seem that bad. "Because- because he's trouble. He smokes, he drinks, and someone said he murdered someone once. Don't talk to him again, he might hurt you." I looked back over my shoulder, just to see Lucas lift up a scrawny kid by the collar. "Okay, message received."

I followed her into a room, filled with art supplies and kids talking. Destiny took me over to a kind looking lady, I assumed the teacher. "Ms. Warrington, this is Alana. It's her first day today and I'm showing her  around." Ms. Warrington smiled at me, "I think you'll have a lot of fun in this class, we mostly do a lot of sketching." I nodded, and followed Destiny to sit next to two other girls and a boy. The dark haired girl was Lily, and the brunette was Addie. The small boy with blonde hair was extremely hyper, Noah was his name. After Destiny introduced me, she jumped right into telling them about my mishap with Lucas. "You won't believe what just happened!" "What?" Noah asked, jumping off his stool and then climbing back on. "Alana ran into Lucas! Literally, they collided!" Addie gasped. "Lucas, like Lucas Lucas?" Destiny nodded seriously, and Lily shuddered. I seemed to be the only person who thought he was okay. Who knew what his home life was like. I shrugged and grabbed my sketchbook and a pencil from my bag, starting to sketch Dan and Phil, cuddling on the sofa, but I couldn't stop thinking about Lucas' eyes. I flipped the page over, and started sketching a pair of eyes. Noah bounced over to my side of the table. "Watcha drawing?" I showed him. "You're really good!" I rolled my eyes but smiled, happy to know something was going right that day.

After Art, Destiny walked me to History, and introduced me to the teacher, Mrs. Smith. She reminded me a bit of Professor McGonagal from Harry Potter, with a tight bun on the top of her head and a sharp nose. Destiny left, and Mrs. Smith pointed me to my seat, "In the back there, next to Lucas-" I looked up, and sure enough, it was him, chair scooted out, feet on the desk. "the one with the-" I already knew though, and headed to my seat, flinging my bag on the floor next to my chair and pulling out my sketchbook. I wanted to finish my drawing of him. As I peered at is face, or what I could see of it, due to his long fringe, he looked up. "Oh. You again." "What about me?" He rolled his eyes, sighing. "Who even are you?" I told him my name. "Alana. I'm new."

"I'm Lucas."

"I know."

"But my friends call me Link." I bit my lip. This guy had friends? But I didn't say anything about it, just continued the conversation. "Link, huh? I guess I'll call you Linkas then." "If you do that, I swear I'll kill you." He looked dead serious, but I laughed. "Listen," he said, "I'm not gonna do anything now, but I'm serious. Don't cross me, you won't get hurt. It's that simple."

"Whatever you say, Linkas."

"If you insist on calling me that, I get to give you a terrible nickname. Like... Lana-banana."

I froze, and said quietly, "you can't call me that, that's what Phil calls me!" "Excuse me? Who's Phil?" "One of my dads." He snorted and ignored me again. I started paying more attention to the class, and Ms. Smith said, "Alana! I don't know where you used to go to school, but it is not acceptable to work on other things in my class! I expected more of you!" "Sorry" I said sheepishly, returning my sketchbook to my bag and pulled out a notebook. I continued to work, every so often shifting my gaze to Linkas. Mrs. Smith caught me once. She walked to my desk, high heels clicking on the floor, and stood over me. "Eyes on your paper, and you're paper only!" I sank in my seat, about to apologize, when Linkas, looking up from his phone for once, said, "Leave her alone! It's her fucking first day!" I was surprised, but before I could speak, Mrs. Smith did. "Detention. Both of you, right after this, and all through lunch." And she walked away. Linkas shrugged, this clearly wasn't a big deal for him. I didn't know what to though. My first detention in my life, and it had to happen on my first day of a new school, and within my first week with Dan and Phil. "Thanks" I whispered to Linkas, who, not looking up, said, "don't get used to this. I just hate Smith." Of course that would be the case.

After class, Destiny came to get me, and I had to tell her that I'd already gotten a lunch detention. She looked shocked, but said she would come get me after. I sat back down at my desk, and pulled out a Sharpie. I doodled on my arms, spirals and curlicues. I did this whenever I got bored. A note fell on my desk. I opened it. 'What's your number? I need to tell you something.
- L' I wrote it back on the back of the page. Pretty soon, my phone buzzed from my pocket. I unlocked it, and checked my texts. The number read unknown, so I switched it to 'Linkas'. The text said 'Why do you keep talking to me? Most people are either scared of me or just hate me.'

Alana: You seem interesting. I want to know you.
Linkas: But you don't.
A: that doesn't mean I won't ever
L: look, I don't know what you don't understand about don't cross me, but I'm not fucking kidding.
A: okay, jeez.

A/N: Sorry for the long chapter. You guys excited for #Alankas?
