Chapter 9 - Funeral

Jace and Dustin walked into the luscious forest. They could hear cries and chatter from the crowd of students.

Dustin stares at the four coffins that stood before the students. All coffins were covered in silvery glitter and black dark stripes. Faintly on the side, he could see the inscribed latin word: 

Mors est supra scriptum, et ad inferos

Death is just the passage to the next world and beyond. 

He hung his head as he watched as Dustin dragged his feet to get next to him. Ever since Cera's death he had into another world. 

An echo of a microphone entered Jace's ear as he looked to see the Principal Rice walk up to the stage behind the four coffins. 

She wore a black straped dress with flats adding perfectly with her creamy skin. Her  blonde hair fell midlength to her shoulders as he blue pale eyes watched over the crowd of students, crying and depressed by the lost. 

She cleared her thoart before leaning towards the mircophone. "Today, we gather here to remember four great students. Skylar Channings and Akari Everton. " She hung her head, pausing for a second. "We remember the memoires and pictires we gathered. All the mistakes and wins in their life for they have moved on today." She shook her head unable to talk anymore, she made her way off the stage. 

Seth Burkheart was angered by his girlfriend death. He clenched his fist to his side, his green eyes going upset and furious. He pushed through the crowd of the students and unto the stage. Many eyes looked at him and he clenched his teeth, biting back the urge to ounch someone nearby. 

"To those who don't know me. I'm Skylar's boyfriend. Her death had made me furious." He took a deep breath before coutnuing. "Do you want to know what I found of my Sky?" He asked bitterly into the microphone. "I found her slumped against the school dorms wall, her neck bleeding!" He shouted unable to control his anger boiling inside of him. 

The crowd gasped with shock and suprise as did the many teachers gathered outside. A wave of silence grew until finally, Seth spoke once more. "Whoever killed my Sky, You wont live to see teh next day. I will stab you and break your neck letting you have the most painful death." He threated as he turned and left the stage with the silent crowd. 

Mr. Akon walked up to the microphone. His grey hair was lighten with highlights with red, mimicing blood. His piercing blue eyes watched the crowd. Some trembled fearfully, others just stood still speechless. 

"Now, as for Kalen Summers and Cera Weston....we do not know if they are alive." He said poison in his voice. "Cera and Kalen are missing for the time being. For all we know, they are dead." he backed off the micriphone. 

"Now,everyone please go back to the dorms!" Princial Rice yelled to the students. The students obeyed as they filed out of the forest. 

Kalen and Cera watched in awe. Tears were flowing in there eyes as they heard what they said about them. Kalen turned her head to Kayden who stood cuddling Renee. "We are dead!" She shouted falling to her knees. 

Cera gazed at Dustin who stared at her coffin. He was put like a statue. 

Kayden sighed. "Look, we should get back to the safehouse. " 

Kalen got up slowly, turning her head to see Jace standing there the same as Dustin obvlious to her presence. His body trembled. 

She started to run for him, not caring about Kayden or Renee. Suddenly, she was tackled to the ground with Renee who bared her fangs abd hissed at her. Her once Autumn colored eyes were blood red staring into hers. Kayden and Cera followed, seeing they were spotted. 

"What the helll were you thinking!" Renee said not moving her hands off Kalen's arms, locking her to the ground. 

"I was thinking that I could I see my best friends!" She argued struggling to get up. 

Kayden pulled Renee of off Kalen as they stood opposite to each other. "Its not safe." He stood up to her. "For all we know...hes against vampires."

Kalen shook her head. "No!" Tears fell quickly down her eyes. "No!" She repeated.

Cera pulled her into a hug as Kalen hugged tightly back. "Everything will be ok. " She nodded as she pulled back and looked at Kayden then to Renee whose eyes went back to normal. She sighed inrelief knowoing her fangs were gone. 

"So..where do we go?" She asks, looking in the sitance at the school. Kayden and Renee looked at each other then at their new vampires. 

"A cabin in the woods. Its used to the Triaxs Clan but they arent arriving until Wedsnday." 

They soon all followed Kayden to the cabin deep in the woods. 

Inside the living room was a fireplace and couch. The kitchen was a stove and a fridge tucked in a cornor. 

Kayden gestured Kalen to her room down the hall, not far from the door. "You can stay here for the time being." 

She sat on the bed looking around at the room. A dressed, a window and closet was it in her 'new' room. 

"What about my stuff?"

"Renee or I will get it. Its not safe. Your still a young vampire." He sighed leaning against the door frame. 

She crossed her arms over her chest then stood up and handed him her room key. "Get everything." 

He nodded placing it in his pocket of his jeans then gazed to Kalen. His blue eyes looked at her concerned. He ran a hand through his light brown hair. 

"Fledging you mean?" She raised her eyes.

He smiled at her, chuckling softly. "Yes, a Fledging. " 

Kalen lookd around at the one dresser in view and then opened the drawer finding nothing. She turned her head at Kayden. He blushed before returning back with a light purple night gown and slippers. 

She took them gratefully setting them on the bed. 

"Are you doing ok?" He asks moving more closer to her. 

She gasped looking up at Kaydens' suprising move. "I-Its been different..but I kinda of like it." She studdered over her words. 

Kayden pulled back immeadily knowing that was wrong. If Renee knew, things would just crumble. 

"So..you have PJs, a comfy bed, a warm blanket. and three other vampires protecting you throughout the night." He reassured her turning back to exit the door. 

"Yes." She cleared her throat getting that akward moment out of her head. "Goodnight, Kayden." 

Kayden nodded before closing the door to her room, then leaning against the door with his back. He rubbed his forehead. 

Renee will never know, he thought as he made his way to his room two doors down from Kalen. 

He took off his shirt, exposing his 8-pack of abs before laying in bed staring at the celing. Thoughts swirled in his head. 

A knock of the door brought Kayden out his thoguths to reality as he watched Renee enter with a wide happy smile on her face. 

Within seconds, she was next to him in bed cuddling. "Is showed Cera to her room." She said. 

Kayden only nodded, putting a smile and luckily Renee didnt see though it. "Goodnight!" She said before kissing deeply then pulling back and resting her head turning over away from Kayden.

Kayden tossed over to the other side, staring at the darkness at the wall. 

Kalen.
