Kalen woke up the ray of sunlight entering her curtains. She groaned then sat up, rnning a hand through her tangled mess of hair.

All night she had the same recurring dream. She would kill another student or worse, she would kill Jace.

The nightmares made her shudder as she slowly got out of bed. Her feet met the cool floor, making goosebumps appear on her legs. She sighed as she went to the dresser and found a tshirt and jeans that were hers with her black converse.

Hastily, she put them on wanting to get warm. She found a black sweatshirt and hugged it clsoe to her then putting it on. She hurried downstairs and bumped in Renee on the way. Her eyes were blazing red and her fangs were long and sharp.

"I thought you wouldnt be up for another hour or so." She smirked, her hands stained with dried blood.

Kalen sighed. "Look, Im so sorry about yesterday. I dont want to expose us as vampires. Kayden already did the favor of saving my life."

Renee tapped her foot impatiently, staring at her with hatred in her eyes. Her hand gripped Kalen's wrist tightly, almost to the point of breaking it. She pushed Kalen into the wall, her mouth by her neck.

Kalen could feel the steady breath of her shivering down her spine. She was scared of what she could to do her, after all she was more expierince.

"You make one move, one thought about your mudane friends, I will stake your heart then burn your body." Her voice was cold and thick with threats.

Kalen nodded quickly as the grip dissappited from her wrist. Then Renee was gone. Sighing, Kalen made her way downstairs following the heavenly smell of eggs. Kayden was cooking while Cera sat at the table, her fangs out completely. Blood dripped from her fangs and onto the table. She hestiated walking in. What if Cera would bite her?

"I cant believe I killed another student!" Cera said sadly.

Kayden sighed, moving the eggs around the pan. "Look, It will get easier. " He flipped the eggs over then coutined to talk. "When I was just a Fledging, like you I found it hard to keep myself at check." Kayden smiled at the Fledging recalling what happened last time between Kalen.

"What about Dustin and Jace? I dont want to kill them." She said her lifting up to see Kayden, her fangs dissappearing from her mouth.

Kayden moved the hot cooked eggs to the plate and brought them to her. "If you believe in your heart that they are your best friends, the bloodlust wont take over you." He said assurly sitting down at the table.

Kalen walked in at the moment. Kayden smiled  and stood back up heading over to the stove top. "Good morning, Kale. Did you sleep well?"

Kalen nodded as she sat down across from Cera. "I did sleep pretty good. Im really hungry though." At that moment, her stomach growled which made Cera grin. They both laughed.

Kayden put a plate of eggs infront of Kalen which she pushed aside. She stood up. "I meant blood."

With a heavy sigh, Kayden opened the fridge and gave a blood pack. It felt cool in her hand as she looked up at Kayden.

"A blood pack?" She questioned.

He nodded. "Its safer then from the vein."

She sighed, sitting back down her gaze to Cera.  "Then why did she sneak out and get blood?"

Kayden turned around and watched them both. "She snuck out in the middle of the night..Renee saw it. I was still asleep."

"Oh." She said before drinkin the blood pack. It was fresh but tasted different from the vein, more like sweet sugar flowing her throat.
