Chapter 8 - Strong Temptions

Cera woke up, feeling strange and different. The world around her seemed to be more vibrant and in all ways lighten up like a christmas tree in her eyes. 

Her head turned over to see Kalen and Kayden talking when there chatter stopped abruptly. Kalen came running over to Cera's bedisde in a blink of an eye. Kalen seemed pale and her eyes tinted with red. 

Before anyone spoke, someone knock on the door. Cera's fangs enlongated as did Kalens. Kayden stood up, already knowing who was at the door. he turned back to see both hungrey and eager new vampires wanting ot catch there preys. 

Kayden quickly opened and closed the door, letting Renee walk in observing the new vampires. Kayden leaned against the door, as Renee turned back to him. "These are the new vampires." 

He nodded, etwining there fingers together as they both watch Kalen and Cera like younger children. 

She sighed. "Have they completed the transtion yet?" She asked looking at Kayden. 

He shook his head. "No, Ive been afriad to let them out." 

Renee walked towards Kalen who locked eyes. "Il train Kale. Shes needs to know how to defend her self espatially with people chasing her and trying to kill her." He said as he let go of her hand and grabbed hands with Kalen who obentialty put her fangs away looking at Kayden, confused and lost. 

"Meet at twelve, noon at the graveyard." He said before they managed to get out the door. 

Kalen was hit in the face with human blood right off the bat. She watched as people walked by her in the dorm hallways. She could hear there heart pumping in the vein of their throat. The scent of blood began to overwelm her as Kayden dragged her along. 

Thats when Klaen found her target. A young girl with flowing blonde hair and sea blue eyes that sparkled like a gem in the light above inthe celining lights. 

Her breath came out heavily as she watched the girl hang by the door waiting for someone then finally walking outside in the cool, November air. 

With one quick motion, she took Kayden's grip from her wrist and she was free. She ran faster then what she reazlied she could as she made her way out the door to the girl she saw eariler. 

The girl noticed her and smiled. "Hey, Kale...I didnt see you at the dance. Were you ok?" She asked appraoching Kalen. 

Her mouth watered instantly as the girl stepped clsoer. Her hands cleched in fists by her side trying to calm her thirst. She could hear the steady beating of the girls heart. Her words came out as blocked words, besides she wasnt even paying attention. She only watched her neck. 

"Kale? Are you ok?" The girls asked, leaning more clsoe to her. 

Kalen broke down, her fangs came out and her eyes faded to a light red. She oushed the girl to the wall and dve for her neck. She punctured her thin flesh and began drinking. The sweet blood mingled with her taste buds and made the blood all worth while. 

The girl struggled to get out of Kalen's grasp but her movement were slowed down by her loss of blood.  Soon the girl feel lifeless in Kalen's arm. Luckly no one was around. She let the girl collaspe on her side on the ground. The puncture wounds on the bite were still visable and she was deathly pale. 

Thats when, a hand covered her mouth and forced her backwards away from the girl's body. When they were far away, she turned around and saw Kayden's face. His strong features were worried and upset. He sighed as she wiped her mouth from the blood of the girl. 

"I killed someone..." She admitted quietly, wishing the blood never came off her taste buds. 

He sighed then went stiff. He heard shouting in the distance. He looked at Kalen. She had heard it too. 

"No!!!! Skylar! Dont die on me!" A deep voice shouts. 

Kalen fell to her knees, distruaght by her actions. Kayden knelt down by her, putting an arm around her. She cried on hsi shoulder. "It will get easier, I promise. " he whispered in her ear. 

All she wanted to be in Jace's arms and telling him that he was a vampire. That she died. That she misses him. 

More tears fell from her eyes as Kayden hastily helped her up. he knew that could be found and possibly killed. 

They both ran with inhumanly speed to the the forest. Noon had just arrived. Kalen found herself trembling of what she had become.

Kayden felt terrible but now he knew that she could fight for her life. He pulled her to the top of the hill and to the graveyard where Renee and Cera were wating impatiently. 

Kalen runs and hugs Cera, hugging her tightly. They both pull back and look at each other. Renee sighs and goes over to Kayden. "How was her first catch?" 

He nodded. "Very well. I think shes going to turn into a fine vampire." 

She kissed him softly then pulled away seeing they were watched by Kalen and Cera. "Wait, I have a question...Why can we go in the sun?" 

Kayden sighed. "The legend tells of a wtich blessing the vampires the power of the sun and nature. But the nature part was severed by the an unbalanced connection." he explained. 

Cera looked at Kalen. She collapsed to her knees, holding her right shoulder blade. She rocked back and fourth. Kayden and Renee rushed over to her side. 

Carefully, Kayden pulled the shoulder of her shirt silghty and saw a forming of a tatto. She was accepted into the Traixs clan. The tatto shifted more Kaydens eyes. A scream scaped Kalens throat as he saw what was becoming of the tatto.

 The tatto had glowed as it formed with her pale skin evenually stopping on a strange symbol. 

Kalen breathed heavily, both pals on the floor of the cool grass. Cera was kneeling by her, hastily looking at Kayden. "Whats happening?" She asks. 

Kayden puts back the shirt and covers the tatto. "The Traixs clan chose her power." 

Kalen lifted her head up. "Power?" She asks trembling slightly. 

"Yes, as they claim you..they engrave what you chosen and perfect power is." 

" And?" Cera raised her eyebrow, wanting him to spit it out instead of hestianting. 

"The Traixs clan chose her to 'Sight the dead'." 

Kalen put a hand to where her new tatto was. "Sight the dead?" She asked. 

"As your power..You can heed the help of other vampires before you. " 

Cera looked at Kayden, worried. "How many tattos can the people of the Traixs clan have?" 

Renee watched in silence but finally spoke. "You can have at most 5. The first one always takes place on your right shoulder blade. Then it goes down to your wrist, left side of ribs and above your heart...well only if you get that far. Most people dont. Sometimes people can only have 2." She explained with a smile. 

Kalen stood up, feeling a bit lightheaded towards this news. Kayden supported her, making sure she doesnt fall and hit a headstone. 

Renee looked into the luchious trees. "Kayden, you do realize we missed class today..." 

Cera totally forgot. "Oh, yea we did...." 

Kalen smiles slightly but didnt respond. Cera and Renee approached Kayden and Kalen. "Now, we cant tell anyone. As far as anoyone knows...we are humans. No one under any circumastances drink blood in front of others or tell that we are vampires." 

They all nodded on agreement. Cera looked at Kalen. They were worried about how Jace or Dustin would take the news. 

"Look, tomorrow is a funeral for what happened to Cera and who ever you guys killed. I say we keep quiet until that day is over. We stay hidden." Renee said.
