"So I looked into it and I think that joining the military will be a good fit for you," I said reluctantly across the table.
"You do?" John said with his mouth full.
"Yes, you always wanted to help people. That's one of the reasons why I love you."
"And I love you." John said smiling.
I smiled sadly as John continued to eat. He finished his food and stood up.
"Love you, gotta go." He said quickly, putting his dishes in the sink and rushing to our room.
"Bye," I said quietly. I dumped my food into the trash and started washing dishes.
I put the last plate in the drying rack and dried my hands. John walked into the kitchen. "Sorry, it was my night to wash dishes wasn't it?"
I shrugged, "It's fine, its not like we ate spaghetti."
"Okay, thanks love," He grabbed a beer from the fridge and went back to our room.
I sat at my desk in the office and started opening emails from writers. I read through three articles before taking off my glasses and running a hand down my face. I decided I needed coffee and went to the kitchen to brew some.
After three cups I got tired of walking to the kitchen and took the whole coffee pot to the office.
I'm pretty sure I drank three pots that night.
I didn't sleep with John that night.
