I continued to walk away from the apartment building until I realized I was lost. My phone started vibrating again and I pulled it out if my pocket, hoping for it to be Lafayette.
John: mobile
I put him to voicemail, I didn't want to talk to him since he couldn't show up to our date.
Three new voicemails
Eight unread messages
I turned off my phone and put it back in my pocket. I looked around at the unfamiliar stores, hoping to see something I recognized. Nothing.
I walked into a Starbucks, desperate for coffee.
"Can I just get a tall black coffee?" I said to the barista.
She nodded and I absentmindedly paid her, waiting for my drink.
I got it and got out of there as fast as humanly possible. It smelled like burnt coffee in there.
I sipped the drink and kept walking, farther and farther from John.
