John and I were in the living room on the tiny couch when I noticed a glass box in the corner. "John?" I asked.
"Yes?" He sounded really guilty.
"Why is there a turtle in the corner of our living room?" I said.
"Alex please let me keep him please!" He begged.
"Why is there a turtle?" I said again.
"He's so cute!" He said kneeling in front of the case. "His name is Princess." He said poking the glass.
"Why." I said again, unable to say anything else.
"Don't you like him?" John said sadly.
"John."
"Yes."
"Turtle."
"You're like sixty percent of my impulse control." He said quickly.
I just sighed in response.
"So," he made an effort to drag out the vowel as long as possible.
He started to run out of breath and I could see it in his entire body. "Fine you can keep Princess." I said quickly.
"Oh thank God," he said taking a breath. "I love you."
I rolled my eyes. "I love you too."
"I was talking to Princess." He said quietly.
"Oh,"
"I'm kidding you walnut." He said pulling me into a hug.
