I realized that I changed from words to numbers and I don't even care enough to change it.

I swung the door open and heard muffled talking.

I closed it quietly and practically tiptoed to the office. I peeked in and saw it was empty; I picked up my paperweight and made my way around the flat. I was extremely careful and found every room to be empty except the bathroom. John was in  there. I didn't want to face him. I dropped the paperweight on the bed and grabbed a hoodie and my pillow and locked myself in the office.

I kept the light off, using my desktop and my phone screen to light the room. I pulled my blue quilt out of the old trunk in the office and laid it on the floor. I dropped the pillow on top and stripped to my boxers, laying each piece of clothing over my desk chair. I pulled the Yale hoodie on and laid on the blanket on the carpeted floor. I wrapped half the blanket over my body, and tried to fall asleep.
