I kept walking until I checked my phone and it was ten. I had thirty percent left. I started to walk home, deciding that I'd try to get back into the office through the empty apartment below us.


I reached the apartment at midnight and picked the lock to the empty apartment. I locked it again and looked at the empty flat. I remember the day we moved in. He was so excited to put together furniture, I was not. I can't figure out IKEA furniture. I was ready to work in the home office, not from the office building.

I was a good thing the apartment was under John's name. He can have it with that woman he brought into our bed.

I opened the window to the empty flat and closed it when I got outside. I climbed up to our floor and climbed in the open window, closing it quietly. The apartment was quiet.

I made my makeshift bed on the floor and fell asleep quickly.
