There is nothing that can quite compare to a beginning.

The beginning is what sets the scene. By the beginning, one determines the precedent set for everything that comes next. Everything rests on the very first years of a life, the very first sentences of a book, the very first notes of a song, the very first encounters of a potential love.

The best beginnings, however, are the beginnings that you can’t figure out what comes next. These are the beginnings that make you think. These are the beginnings that create so many possibilities for what follows. These are the beginnings that say, “anything can happen.”

But no matter what kind of a beginning it is, there is always one thing that is the same. In the beginning, there is still a whole future stretched out in front of you, waiting to be developed. There is still so much to be experienced, to be written, to be read, to be sung, to be danced; the possibilities are endless.

However, it can’t be the beginning forever. You can live multiple beginnings in one lifetime, but alas, wherever there is a beginning, there must also be an end. Sometimes, there is only one end and countless beginnings, but no matter. There will always be an end; it is an inevitable fact.

Endings don’t all have to be sad though. I have seen many great endings. People who die, leaving behind a noble legacy; books that finish, teaching a profound lesson; movies that end, leaving me in tears.

Endings can be just as good as beginnings. It just depends on how you write the story.
