I have a friend who once told me something that has stuck with me ever since.
One day, this friend asked me what I was doing and I replied by saying, “I am not really doing much of anything, but I think I should probably do something productive.”
I will never forget the reply that came.
He told me that I shouldn’t do something productive. This answer confused me. Why should I sit around all day doing nothing? Surely I should get something done!
My friend went on to explain that productivity is virtually meaningless on it’s own. He said that I should strive to do something creative instead; creativity is the key.
Every day since that day, I have asked myself the same question. Instead of asking myself what average, everyday people ask themselves, “what can I do today that would be productive?” I ask myself, “what will I do today that would be creative?”
I feel that life is about creativity and creating things as often as we can. I mean, come on, we can create life for Heaven’s sake! That is the ultimate example of creation. If we were not meant to create, we would not be able to create life.
So from that, I think I can safely say that creativity and creation is what life is all about, can’t I?
Yes, I believe that I can.
