Hearts are fragile little things, but they are amazing little things as well. Heedless people that you trusted can shatter these delicate pieces of your soul, but then when someone much more gentle comes along, they can suddenly mend your heart back to fullness again. It is incredible the way a heart can be broken so carelessly and completely one moment, and then can be handled and healed with great care in another.

Hearts are great responsibilities. Whether we are talking about another’s heart or your own, you must be very careful when tending to these tender gifts. Sometimes, people can break a heart unintentionally. The poor thing just slips out of the person’s grasp for one moment, and crash! The heart explodes into a million little fragments of a fractured soul. This is why it is so important to be as careful as possible. A fractured heart, though not impossible to fix, is very painful to repair, and takes much time to do so.

Choice is a big part of caring for hearts too. You can give your heart to whomever you choose, whenever you choose, and you can choose to accept or decline another’s heart when it is offered to you. But everyone must know that if you choose to accept a heart, there is much work that needs to be done to protect it and keep it safe. Those who are irresponsible with hearts are ignorantly dangerous people, and one must go to great lengths to keep themselves from becoming this way. So now is the time to choose what kind of heartkeeper will you be. Will you be the neglectful kind, or the cherishing kind? It is all up to you…

I hope that I am the loving kind. I hope that I am taking good care of those hearts that have been entrusted to me already. All I want is to do better than my very best to guard and protect them from the cruelties of the world.

I hope I do not fail.

And I hope my love will live on to be good enough.
