Kurt opened the front door as quietly as possible. It was about nine o'clock at night and he wanted to try and get to his room in the basement before anyone saw him. When he saw that the coast was clear he walked into the living room and quickly closed the door behind him.

He had decided to spend the whole day just lying in bed with Blaine. He knew that if he ran into his brothers, they would interrogate him to all hell. He couldn't imagine what his father would say if he ran into him. He began to tiptoe across the carpet towards the basement door. He made it halfway across the room before he heard someone clear their throat behind him.

Slowly, Kurt spun around and huffed in annoyence. Carson stood at the base of the stairs, just eyeing his brother coldly. "Where have you been?"

Kurt rolled his eyes. "You know where I've been. Is dad home?"

Carson shook his head slightly. "No he went out to dinner with Carole a few hours ago." Kurt visibly relaxed to the sound of Carson's words.

"Okay well... goodnight!" Kurt said quickly and tried to hurry across the rest of the living room, only to find Chris leaning against the basement door.

"What did you do all day Kurt?" Chris said as he moved slightly to block the door nob from Kurt's reach.

Kurt huffed a big sigh in annoyance. "You don't need to know Chris. Just let me into my room."

There was a silent staring war that lasted for a couple minutes, neither brother backing down from their stance. They finally backed away at the sound of the front door opening and closing behind them.

"Oh hey Kurt. Did you just get home?" Burt said as he walked into the living room and surveyed what was going on. Carson calmly stood at the base of the stairs but Chris almost seemed to be guarding the basement door with his life. "What's going on?"

"Nothing." Kurt said quickly. "Chris is just angry because I didn't tell him that I was going to spend the whole day with Mercedes."

"Liar! Tell dad where you really were." Chris shouted suddenly and made everyone around him jump.

Kurt stared daggers towards his brother. Burt waited patiently for an answer.

Kurt sighed in defeat. "I was with Blaine all day. Is that a crime?"

Burt folded his arms across his chest. "No, but can I say, if you want to keep something a secret you really shouldn't share it with your brothers. I knew something was up this morning when I asked them where you were at breakfast. Oh, and for your Mercedes excuse? I knew you've been spending nights with Blaine every so often over the past year. You're not really that good of a liar Kurt."

Everyone remained in silence out of shock. Kurt was the first to slowly regained his ability to speak. "You're not mad?"

Burt shrugged his shoulders. "You're eighteen. I know your responsible. As long as you and Blaine are being safe and respectful then I'm not going to get in the way. It would be an entirely different story if it was happening under my roof though."

Kurt smiled. "Thanks dad." He went forward and captured him in a hug. When he pulled away, he walked towards the basement door where Chris had yet to move away from. After a second of staring at each other angrily again, Chris moved aside slowly and let Kurt open the door.

"Good night." Kurt said before he closed the door again behind himself. Once he was gone, Burt turned to look at his other two sons.

"Anything else you guys want to say?" Burt said teasingly with a little smile fixed on his face. Carson raised his hands in surrender and Chris huffed and went to sit on the couch. "I thought so."

Thus ended an eventful night in the Hummel Household.
