Santana smiled when she saw Carson and Shannon sitting at a little table on the other side of the coffee house. She quickly grabbed Brittany's hand and pulled her in the direction of their friends. The two lovers at the table quieted some when they looked up and saw the two approaching women. The four of them had decided that a much needed coffee date to catch up was in order, hence the meet up at a coffee house.
Everyone smiled and hugged each other in greeting before they all sat down together around the round table. Carson was the first to really speak his mind.
"How have you two been?" He asked casually. Santana and Brittany shared a moment of eye contact before Santana went to respond.
"We are actually doing pretty good." She said as she went to clasp her wife's hand on top of the table. Brittany squeezed it comfortingly.
"That's actually part of the reason why we wanted to meet up with you guys." Brittany said, speaking for the first time after sitting down. "We have decided that we want to make our family a little bigger."
Shannon gasped excitedly. "Awe! You guys! Are you serious! You guys will make great moms!"
Santana smiled happily as she looked over at Brittany again. "Yeah, we think so too."
Brittany hummed in agreement before she got distracted. "Wait! Hold up! That is a beautiful engagement ring!"
Shannon laughed with joy as Santana pulled her hand across the table to get a better look. "Damn Carson, that's a nice rock."
Carson shrugged it off easily. He wanted to talk more about their plans of parenthood. "Are you going to adopt?"
Santana shook her head for a moment before she cast a look at Brittany again. To Carson, she appeared nervous. "Actually, we were thinking of finding a donor."
"That's great! Do you have anyone in mind? I bet there are a lot of good donors out there that will meet all of the criteria that you might want." Shannon said as she took a sip of her hot chocolate.
Carson watched as Santana's eye twitched nervously again. It was then that he noticed that those eyes were trained on him.
"We were actually hoping that you, Carson, would be our donor."
The four of them around the table grew silent. No one knew what to say. Brittany was the first to speak again after a couple minutes.
"It's not that big of a deal. We don't expect you to be the baby's father. We were actually thinking that you and Shane could be it's Godparents." She spoke with a smile on her face as she squeezed Santana's hand tightly again.
"Who would be the other biological parent?" Carson said slowly. He wasn't sure how he felt about the idea, but he wanted to know all of the facts before he completely gave his opinion.
"I am." Santana said with a smile. Carson looked into her eyes and saw the hope in them.
"Why do you want me to be your donor?" Carson said, voicing aloud his main question. He couldn't think of any special qualities that he possessed that other registered donors wouldn't have.
Santana took a deep breath before she answered. "Well, you are my best friend Carson. You were the first person I came out to, and you are the best person I know. You were always there for me, and quite honestly, you are the most like me of all of the people I know."
Carson went silent again as he continued to think everything over. Brittany turned to look at Shannon. "What do you think about all of this Shane? We may be asking Carson, but your opinion matters too. After all, he is your fiancé."
Shannon had been quiet throughout the whole conversation because she knew it wasn't up to her. She actually thought that it was a great idea. She had seen the way Carson was around kids, how gentle he was.
"I think that it is not up to me to decide." She said carefully, drawing Carson's gaze over to her. "But I also want to say that I am completely fine with it. I know that you two will be great parents. Personally, I would love to be a godparent."
Brittany squealed with excitement. Santana just smiled happier than before. The three of them turned to look at Carson. His decision was do or die for their plans.
Carson took a slow sip from his coffee cup and went over everything in his head. After a minute of intense silence around the table, Carson finally had a answer to give.
"I'm in."
Cheers exploded from the girls as they all got up and hugged one another. Carson consciously noticed that they had drawn the attention of almost everyone in the Café. Many looked on in confusion, but those who were sitting closer and had heard the whole story were smiling widely and shouting congratulations.
The circumstances were weird, but Carson knew that the kid in the making was going to be very loved.
