Carson, Chris, and Kurt were completely identical and it annoyed the hell out of Blaine.
Ever since Blaine had transferred to McKinley, he had been scared to say the wrong thing to the wrong brother. He would forever remember his awkward first encounters with Kurt's brothers the day he had gotten lost in the school. He never wanted to experience that horror again. Blaine constantly found himself memorizing what each Hummel boy wore in the morning to better recognize them throughout the day, and even studied the little personality tweaks and characteristics special to each one of them.
Blaine discovered that Chris had a tendency to crinkle his forehead when he spoke, Carson typically avoided eye contact with everyone when he walked down the hallways of the school, periodically muttering 'cattle' under his breath, and Kurt always smiled when he caught Blaine's eyes on him.
But every time Blaine felt like he was finally starting to figure the three of them out he would always make a mistake. The worst part was when he did confuse the wrong brother for Kurt, Carson and Chris typically played along and pretended to be Kurt as a prank.
The best (worst) example of this happened about a month after his transfer to Mckinley.
Unbeknownst to Blaine, earlier in the day Carson had been caught in the crossfire of a slushie incident. He didn't have a change of clothes, so he resorted to raiding his brothers' gym lockers. All of Chris's shirts reeked of sweat and B.O. so Carson had no other choice but to wear one of Kurt's. Kurt was used to the probability of being slushied on a daily basis so he kept a few extra outfits at school. Carson put on the least scandalous choice of the three tops and left the locker room.
This is when he ran into Blaine.
"Hey, what happened?" Blaine asked when he saw the remnants of red food dye on Carson's face and grew concerned. His hair was sticky and had lost its usual style.
Carson rolled his eyes at the shorter man. "Someone missed during a slushee attack and hit me instead. I was just changing my shirt."
Blaine's eyes grew wide and sympathetic. "I'm sorry, that's aweful! Why do people do that?" Blaine was still new to the McKinley environment and hadn't yet experienced the shocking cold of a slushee to the face.
Carson chuckled. "Because they can."
Blaine made a mental note to put a few extra shirts in his own locker tomorrow. "Well, I have to go talk to a teacher but I'll see you in glee club later?" He reached out and held Carson's arm until he looked up from messing with his shirt. Blaine couldn't understand the expression on the other boy's face, because he had never seen Kurt make it before. He didn't yet know that it was a personal signature of Carson. His eyes were shining with mischief and Blaine was none the wiser.
"Yeah.. Ill see you then." he said very slowly as he began to back away. Blaine watched him turn and walk down the hallway. He tried to shrug off the weird feeling he was having and blamed it on Kurt just being upset about the slushee.

After leaving Blaine, Carson made a mad dash towards Chris's locker. An Idea had formed as he talked to Blaine, one that he could only dream of executing. He smiled when he found his brother right where he knew he'd be. This was going to be good.
"I need you to trade shirts with me." Carson somewhat whispered to avoid the attention of others in the busy hallway. Chris jumped at the sudden closeness of his brother.
Chris wrinkled his nose as he took in what Carson was wearing. While it wasn't one of Kurt's most outlandish fashion pieces, it was still a sight to behold. The Three brother had never had a problem telling each other apart. When you grew up with siblings, even identical siblings, you could identify them by the sound of their voice, the twinkle of an eye, or the shoes on their feet. Chris knew that this was Carson in front of him.
"Why?" Chris queried nervously. He knew the look his brother was giving him. It was the same look he'd had last year when they tricked their father for not being able to tell them apart. That had been fun, but Chris always felt nervous when he saw that look in his brother's eyes.
"I have a plan." Carson was practically grinning from ear to ear as he began to explain his master prank.

Kurt knew what his brothers were doing, and he secretly loved it. All it took was seeing Chris walking the halls in his clothes to immediately understand the situation. He had watched as Chris smiled and waved at Blaine as he passed on his way to class. He knew why Blaine got frustrated with them sometimes and Kurt understood that he was just tired of being confused, but it was something so unique to the three of them that Kurt didn't feel too badly about it. He would just have to make it up to him later.
Kurt stood by Carson's locker after the last class of the day was released. He wasn't disappointed when he saw both his brothers walking down the hall towards him laughing hysterically. They stopped when they saw Kurt waiting for them and seemed to sober up and squirm under the watch of his eyes. Kurt smiled at the fact that he could render them speechless.
"I know what you're doing, and I want in." He said quickly when it seemed like Chris was about to finally speak. Kurt gave his brothers a smirk he knew Carson would be proud of. "Give me my shirt."

After attending Glee practice and having Blaine be none the wiser to the triple switch they had pulled on him in one day, Kurt decided it wouldn't hurt to make a second attempt. The next day, Kurt wore a pair of grey sweatpants and one of Carson's band t-shirts to school, while keeping his hair styled normally with a nice pair of shoes. Carson and Chris both decided to wear an outfit of Kurt's, leaning fully into being as fashionable as possible. The brothers even swapped their class schedules to further confuse their friends. Kurt ended up taking a math test for Carson and finally understood where all his brother's anger for the subject came from.
It was during lunch that Kurt finally decided to be done torturing Blaine. He could tell that Blaine was getting angry after he avoided him during their free period that morning. As they ate together, Kurt took out a sharpie and wrote 'property of Blaine' on the back of his hand. He also texted Chris and Carson to tell them Blaine was out of bounds for the remainder of the prank. They reluctantly agreed. Kurt relaxed a bit when his boyfriend started to smile and talk more freely again.
The week continued on in a similar manner, swapping shirts multiple times a day and sharing the reactions of their friends with each other during the drive home from school. Carson even attended a Glee rehearsal at one point, dressed in his normal clothes. Mr. Schuester and all of Kurt's friends didn't know what to do or how to act around him. It didn't help that Kurt was also dressed like Carson. They ended up participating in Dance Booty Camp together and neither one of them were able to get the moves right.
The prank ended when Puck wore one of Kurt's outfits to school on Friday. The Hummel brothers weren't sure where he had gotten the bright stars and stripes tank top and red fedora but it was a sight to behold.
