Chapter 6: New helpers

Jewel had decided to stay behind and when he did he found not one but four new students walking out of the woods. 'They all seemed to already be partnered up,' Jewel thought to himself looking at them.

The four of them were laughing about something and when they noticed him they all smiled. The man that seemed to be their "leader" walked towards him.

The first thing that Jewel noticed was one of his hands was red and slightly swollen. "Hey new guy mind if we join?" He asked looking at them.

"I suppose not," Jewel said looking at them.

"We see you've already found one of the pieces," the male said looking at him.

"Yeah they weren't to hard to find," Jewel said looking at him.

"Really well mind escorting us to where they are?" The make asked looking at Jewel.

"Not really but I'll show you were they are and then leave," Jewel said looking at them. This made the four of them laugh slightly.

"You're funny," the make said looking at him.

"I wasn't trying to be funny but thanks," Jewel said looking at him. As he walked the short distance that there was to were the relics where he looked at them.

'They seem nice enough I guess,' Jewel thought looking at them. He had no reason not to think this after all they were laughing and they hadn't tried to fight him yet.

"Thanks dude now we just need to find Ozpin so we can get out of here," the male with a blonde Mohawk said looking at Jewel. However the "leader" of the four once again spoke up.

"Hold on where's your partner?" He asked looking at him.

"Don't have one yet," Jewel said looking at him.

"Wow didn't meet anyone in the woods huh?" The male asked looking at him. Jewel nodded at this and the male in front of him sighed.

"I almost forgot I'm Cardin and these are my friends, Russel, Sky, and Dove," the male said looking at him.

"Okay well nice to meet you now I have to get going or else I might be out of partner options," Jewel said looking at them.

"Yeah then again there's the off chance that you find Ozpin first," the male the Jewel now knew as Cardin said looking at him.

"What do you mean?" Jewel asked looking at him.

"Well the first person to find Ozpin has the option of being on a solo team if they didn't find a partner," Cardin said looking at Jewel as soon as he said this Jewel's eyes widened and he focused aura to his eyes and began to look for any aura outlines he could see in the distance.

He saw eight that looked to be fighting something and a silver outline and a purple outline walking to the top of what seemed to be a hill.

Jewel smiled at this and focused aura to his feet and started to run through the woods. When he did he left a rather large pile of dust causing the four members he left behind to start coughing.

"Okay well we'll see you back at Beacon . . . I guess," Cardin said looking at the dust the male was leaving behind. The males then sighed and walked in a different direction.

Jewel ran as fast as he could leaving small craters where his feet had been moments ago. As he ran towards them they stopped hearing something behind him.

However they were a little surprised to see that he had actually went to find them and not the other way around. "Am I to late for the solo team position?" Jewel asked out of breath.

"No you can be on the solo team," Ozpin said looking at him. This made Jewel a little excited and he looked at where they were going. "However I strongly suggest that you find a partner and not become a solo team," Ozpin said looking at him.

"No that's fine I'm not to fond of people," Jewel said looking at him. He then pulled out the queen and handed it to Ozpin. The silver haired male sighed and looked at the white haired male in front of him.

"Please follow me," Ozpin said looking at him. Jewel shrugged at this and followed behind him. When he did he realized that he was heading up a hill and this was the direction where the eight aura signatures from before where at.

Once they reached the top Ozpin looked down as did Jewel. "What do you think of them?" Ozpin asked looking at Jewel.

"They seem strong," Jewel said looking at them.

"I see where would you place them?" Ozpin asked looking at him.

"Well if the blonde male is at a 10 then the other male is at 15 the girl with the hammer is also at a 15 the redhead is a 20, the one with the cape is at a 25, and the one with the bow and is at a 23, the white haired girl is at 24, and the blonde female is at a 355, of course that's only if you want physical power. There skill levels are different as well as there speed factor but any way I look at it the blonde male is always at the bottom," Jewel said looking at them.

"Were would you place yourself?" Ozpin asked looking at Jewel.

"In terms of physical power on the same scale as them I'm at a 50," Jewel said looking at Ozpin.

"Now what do you think their chances of defeating the nevermore and Death stalker are?" Ozpin asked looking at Jewel.

"If they work together they can definitely beat them if not chances are they can still beat them. Their skills seem to compliment each other," Jewel said looking at them.

"Will you help them?" Ozpin asked looking at him.

"What?" Jewel asked surprised by the males sudden question.

"Will you help them? You seem to be able to hold your own so why not help them and make their lives easier?" Ozpin said looking at him.

"Why should I help them?" Jewel asked looking at him.

"It would be the right thing to do and if nothing else consider it a way to prove you can take care of yourself being a solo hunter," Ozpin said looking at Jewel.

When he said this Jewel looked over the edge and saw that the blonde male was having the most trouble keeping up. Then again killing the nevermore would be a good way to prove himself.

Then a thought passed through his head. 'Why should I have to prove myself or help them? It's none of my business and it's not like he's ordering me to help. So why should I help?' Jewel thought to himself.

He then turned to Ozpin looked at him in the eyes and he saw something that made him make his choice then and there.
