The hand that had just been rested on her shoulder belonged to none other than the one and only, leather clad superhero, Chat Noir. The expression of pity was painted across his face, or was it sympathy? Chat Noir never was serious enough to sympathize, he probably had never thought of the subject once.
Marinette averted her vision to the grass beneath her, avoiding the questioning gaze the hero gave her. A single claw was rested under her chin and her chin was lifted up so she could make eye contact with the blonde who was desperate for answers. "Marinette.." He spoke softly, in a comforting manner. "Let's get you home, and then we can chat about this.. Okay?"
Marinette sniffled and nodded slightly, unable to care less that Chat Noir saw her in her weakest manner. He gently picked her up bridal style, only to be greeted by a squeal in pain. He retreated his grip quickly and gave the bluenette a concerned look. Without any questions asked, he pounced roof by roof until he was sliding into her bedroom window from the balcony.
Her room was quite neatly decorated, other than the countless photos of Adrien on the walls. Chat just gave of a warm smile at the girl's crush before laying her down gently on her chaise chair. He pulled off her black blazer and hung it on a hook on the wall before examining the source of her pain. Red, black, blue, and purple painted her arms, there were a couple or more small cuts along with the bruises.
"Marinette, would you mind turning around so I could examine your wounds?" His warm and comforting voice hung in the air as he looked down upon the girl who sat before him silently. It comforted her, the smoothness of the way the words rolled off his tongue, how sweet he could really be.
Marinette complied, "O-of course." She stuttered, still trembling from the crying she had just done. Chat lifted up the back of her shirt carefully. You could clearly see the imprint of bricks stamped along the bruises scattered around her back.
"How did this happen..?"
The question Marinette had dreaded hung in the silence between them. She gulped down her anxiety and sighed, stifling back tears. She knew she had to answer this time.
"Well..." Sniff. "I was going to go ask out this guy I like.. But then this girl Chloe stepped in front of me and..." Sniff. "She shoved me against the wall and humiliated me in front of the whole school." And with finishing the sentence, tears began to roll down Marinette's cheeks as she sobbed softly into her hands.
