~ Levi POV ~
The warm breeze glazes over my pale skin, goosebumps making my hairs stand on edge. Laying on the long green grass, I close my eyes. Feeling relaxed besides the Maria Flow Lake, the large ball of orange for a sun shines directly above me, it's brightness finding it's way through my eyelids.
I have no clue why people don't come here, but it's like one look at me and everyone runs off, strange, though I don't complain. I mean who would? Listening to the water clashing again the Earth, the cries of birds singing to my while they also hover peacefully above me, sometime's helping to block out the blinding sun.
Reopening my eyes I watch the dark black shadows of birds circle the sun, taking no longer then a quick peck of the clean blue lake, I again, close my eyes and smile, a smile no one else is able to see. A smile which makes me feel free.
"So, there you are." Groaning I look up see eyebrows towering over my relaxed body. Grabbing the strap to my school bag from my side I place it on the opposite side of me getting a "Thank's" from Erwin as he sits, crossed legged, next to me.
"What's up?" I ask in a monotone voice, staring over at him in boredom waiting for a reply.
"Well you missed the last period—" He informs me, me tutting and shrugging not one bit caring. —"And Mr. Zacharius told me to inform you about an upcoming math test."
Grunting, I drift my eyes from him to look up at the sun. The pale blue sky is nearly blanketed in white puffy clouds, birds flying higher and higher as if to reach the unreachable sun.
"Thanks," I mutter under my breath for telling me of the ever so exciting test before I sit up with him, my legs stretching out, in calming silence till I break it. "Where's Hanji?"
Hanji is a 'close friend,' of many, alongside Erwin. Erwin having a crush on Hanji and Hanji, Erwin, but them both to afraid of rejections that neither of them have stepped forwards to tell the other. I have offered them both to tell each other how they feel but again, they are still curious about whether or not to say so as both want to believe me. But if all went wrong, meaning they didn't fully trust me, they didn't want the friendship to end.
The short blonde hair male, with huge, I mean huge like... massive bushy brown eyebrows looks down at me only to then looks away, over my shoulder to the other side of the lake.
"Say's she's got nursing school to go to," he mumbles, disappointment in his voice. "What the..." glancing up at Erwin, who's now all tensed up, his blue eyes are shown glued to the other side of the lake. Giving him a questioning look, he asks; "Is-is that... Jean?" Following to where he's looking, my eye's widen.
"Get down, now." I snappily whisper, us both falling forward onto our chest's, head slightly looking over the long dark green grass, which is now blowing sideways in the wind, covering us up so we're undercover. "What's Jean doing here?" I ask, noticing more of his friend's join him at the edge of the rippling water chatting away to one another.
"I-I don't know."
"He never comes here," I whisper, a frown knotted at my brows. That was until I hear a gasp come out of Erwin's, him covering his lips with his hand, his eye's widening showing fear.
"What? What is it?" I look back over a Jean who's talking to Marco.
"Rei-Reiner." Rolling my eyes at the fact that he didn't bother answering my question, I become agitated.
Urging him to spill the beans I give him a nudge with the elbow, "What is it? Goddamn it!"
"Look on h-his shoulder..." Squinting over at Reiner, my own eyes widen, now understanding what all the fuss was with the way acted when my eyes showed me a body hung over his shoulder "Do-is he dead?"
"I don't know, do I?" I hissed, shaking my head at the idiotic question.
His mouth opened, eyes observing all before him only to then look over at me, "What do we do?"
"Wait."
"Wait? We can't do nothing!" Erwin angrily replies, frowning at me.
"Fine, call Hanji."
"Why?"
I shuffle further down hiding my face deeper in the grass when on the people in Jean's group peers over at us, not finding anything peculiar. So brushing it off, they turn back to what they was doing in the first place.
Letting off a small cough, I giving Erwin a side glance, "because if anything is wrong with him she'll know what to do." I state.
"Okay, what should I say?"
"Ur..." Thinking hard I just let off a sigh, "tell her to go to mine and to just wait for us there."
"Okay, on it."
Backwards crawling away, he quickly pulls out his phone, typing in a few things, before bringing the phone up to his ear.
I turn my attention back to the other group, only to watch in horror when Jean unhooks the limp body from Reiner's shoulder, then taking a quick scan around the lake for any movement. Once no one's sighted and they think they're in the clean, he dumps the body into lake as if it was rubbish.
I watch as they all sprint away in a flash, Jean dragging Annie with him. Peering down at the water, I quickly jumping to my feet and without thinking I charge, sprint, drive, into the ice cold water.
My eye's are wide open, my breath held as small bubbles leaving my tightly shut mouth. My eyes search all lengths of the lake, my breath struggling to release in my throat while all is blurry. Where is he? Fish of all colours, shapes and sizes swim beneath me, myself scrunching up my nose, disgusting!
Then I see it, the body.
The boy looks at me wide eyes, I could tell that if he wasn't in the water he would be crying and then he became still, bubble's, the last of his air, escaping his lips. A hand reaches up for me desperately. I watch the arms of the water pull him deeper and deeper down, drowning him. His eyes showing hopelessness, being closing for the best.
Swimming and kicking, teeth clenched shut, I bash my feet furiously through the water, my arm's in-sink pulling me closer and closer down towards the boy. Reaching out, my limbs aching, I struggling to concentrate from the lack of air.
My hand wafting around for something, anything to grip a hold of I come across a soft, small thing. Only then to realize what it really was; his arm. Yanking at it with all my might, I narrowed my eyes.
He's safe.
