Vann’s eyes widened in surprise as his fist clenched slightly, his fingers scraping the rock he was sitting on.

“W-what?” He stammered, “You mean there’s actually one here?”

Blue nodded. “Yes, there’s no mistaking it.” She told him, “I definitely sense a piece of the key here.”

“But, I thought you said that you couldn’t tell where the pieces where until the programmed shields protecting them disappeared or whatever.” Vann questioned. The A.I. nodded again.

“Normally, that would be the case.” she replied, “As it is, the programming protecting the piece is very weak, but not yet gone. I assume it is only because we are so close to it that I am able to sense it.”

Vann’s eyes narrowed slightly, the moonlight above making them shine slightly. “So, we have to go and get it, right?” he asked in a low voice. Blue lowered her head slightly, causing her hair fall over one of her eyes.

“That would be the best thing to do. If we go now we shouldn’t have to worry about encountering any Hackers, which would be ideal.” She said, “I assume you don’t have a problem with that?” She added, her voice sharpening slightly. Vann crossed his arms scowling a bit.

“Che, I already said I’d help didn’t I? Just cause I don’t really like it, doesn’t mean I’m just going to ditch out on you.” Standing up he brushed himself off.

“I keep my promises, so let’s go.” he said, looking down at her. Blue stared at him for a moment before nodding.

“Very well.”

THE REVEAL

The moon was still shining overhead as they traveled through the dark forest. A soft breeze blew through the trees, causing the branches to bend slightly, creaking slightly.

“So…tell me what it is we’re looking for?” Vann asked, rubbing his head. Blue looked from side to side, in deep thought.

“To be honest, I’m not quite sure.” she admitted, “All I know is that it’s somewhere near.”

“So we’re just walking around in circles here…” Vann groaned. Blue frowned.

“No, we’re going the right way. The feeling is…stronger. It’s presence,” She said, “It’s like I’m being drawn to it. We’re getting close.” She closed her eyes when she heard a shrill scream.

“Of course…this would be a lot easier,” She muttered in annoyance, “if there weren’t as many distractions.”

“Adan! Vann! This sand trap came outta nowhere! Help me out!” Rallen cried, grabbing onto a trees root and trying to pull himself out of a sandpit he had fallen into.

Blue held back an irritated sigh, “Please explain to me what you two are doing here.” She asked, looking over her shoulder to watch the scene behind her. The Alchemist smiled.

“Tagging along, remember?” he replied cheerfully as Vann reluctantly pulled Rallen out of the trap.

“I do, and I disapprove. This is dangerous, go back.” Blue commanded. Adan frowned.

“Dangerous? You did say that the barriers around the key piece had not yet dissolved. So it’s unlikely that they’re will be any of those Hackers there right?” When Blue didn’t respond Adan smiled again.
