Vann took a step forward, positioning himself beside Blue. “Oi, I thought you said we wouldn’t have to worry about stuff like this.” He said in a low voice. Blue narrowed her eyes.
“I only took in account their own abilities to detect the Key Pieces, I never would have thought we would be followed.”
Vann gaze shifted over to the blond next to him before turning back to the Hacker.
“So then…”He started, “What’s the plan? You’ve got one right?” Blue glanced over at the Dragon beside her. She took in his calm and determined expression with a hint of surprise in her expression.
He’s rather calm for being in such a situation. Much calmer than a normal boy his age should be…
…It’s as if…
“If we all rush him, do you think we can beat him?” Vann asked as he watched the Hacker, “We’ve got him outnumbered.”
Camper bowed his head slightly, “Outnumbered?” A twisted smile spread across his face, “I don’t think so.” Raising his hand he snapped his fingers. Vann’s eyes widened, stumbling back as a transparent barrier rose up out of the ground in front of him. Near invisible walls rose up around him on all sides, trapping him.
“In fact,” Camper sneered, “I’d say the one at the disadvantage…are you guys.”
Looking around Vann saw his friends similarly trapped. Gritting his teeth he reached back and slammed his fist against the clear wall. He cried out when he felt the force of the attack thrown back at him, making him fall back.
“Why don’t you guys just sit tight for a bit.” Camper said, turning around to face the golden door. “Don’t worry, as soon as I get the Key, I’ll come back for you. Then-” he looked over his shoulder, his eyes gleaming, “We can have some real fun.”
Vann scowled. “Damn it!”
“Vann.” Blue called in a low voice, causing the dragon’s eyes moved over to her, “This kind of trick is nothing. Once you and I get free, you retrieve the Key piece, and I will fight the Hacker.”
Vann’s eyes narrowed.
“Alone? Are you stup-”
“You must get the Matrix Key piece before he does. That’s what’s most important.” Blue cut him off, looking past their enemy to the golden door behind the waterfall.
“What about us?” Adan asked. Blue glanced over her shoulder at them.
“Nothing.” She told them, “A Hacker changes things, I won’t let civilians get involved.”
“But-!” Rallen started to protest but Adan cut him off.
“If Blue can handle herself then we will only be getting in her way if we get involved. Besides” He rapped his knuckles on the barrier, “It looks like we’re trapped anyways. So we’ll stay back…for now.”
Blue nodded curtly, “Agreed.” She looked over at Vann, who still looked upset with the plan.
“Don’t concern yourself over me.” She said seriously, “It’s nothing I can’t handle. Besides, even though I need you agreed to help me, you are still a civilian. I would like to keep you out of danger as much as possible.”
Vann scowled slightly, letting out a breath.
“Guess I don’t have a choice." he muttered.
