FABLES of FANTASY: 11
NO HIDE BUT SEEK

The wood let out a tired creaking as the city gates were pulled to the side. From the walls surrounding the city, a guard glanced down at the four travelers standing on the dirt path, waiting to be let in. Making sure the gate was secure, he called down to the four.
“Alright, come on in!” He shouted, waving them in, “You guys watch yourselves!”
Stepping past the gate into the city, Vann looked around and sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“Geez, look how big this place is.” He said, taking the city in. The shops and houses stretched on for miles. At the rear of the city, the buildings and towers rose high above all the others, having been built on a large hill. Dozens of players of almost every class crowded the streets. The air was filled with the sounds of talking, laughing, and shouting.
“How are we gonna find him here?” Vann asked, glancing back at his companion. Adan frowned, coming up behind him.
“You’re right, it’ll be hard finding a just one person in such a large city.” He agreed. Vann scowled, crossing his arms.
“Those two had better be right.” He growled.
“I saw ‘im ‘bout a week ago in Kusagari City.” Kaychie smiled, “Not sure if he’s still there, but’cha know ‘im, he likes ta stay in one spot for a while before movin’ on. Besides, Kusagari’s a big place lots ta do there. Best chance is you’ll find ‘im there.”
“Kusagari city is one of the largest cities in the game.” Adan noted, “And we’ve only been here twice before. I don’t know the layout very well.”
“The structure is very different from most towns.” Blue commented curiously as she and Rallen came up beside Adan and Vann, “Why would they put such an extensive wall and gate on the outside?”
“Nobody under level twenty five is allowed in here.” Adan told her, “This place has fewer rules concerning player vs. player combat. It can be pretty dangerous if you aren’t strong enough.”
Vann turned to Adan, sucking in a breath, “So, where should we start?” he sighed. Adan cocked his head.
“Well…” He started, “If we split up, we may be able to-” The alchemist paused when one of players walking on the street suddenly bumped into Vann.
“Wha-Hey! Watch it!” The player exclaimed, stumbling forward before turning to glare at Vann. The dragon turned to the player, an irritated look on his face.
“You ran into me jackass, you watch it.” he shot back. The player gritted his teeth, scowling.
“What did you call me?” He hissed, “You new here or something? That’s a good way to start a fight.”
“Yeah? Well then try something, shithead.” Vann replied, his expression mirroring the other players. The player narrowed his eyes.
“Why you…” he grabbed Vann by the shirt, raising his fist “I’ll smash you!”
Vann knocked the players hand away and ducked, avoiding the punch. Raising his open palm, he shoved the player backwards. The player cursed as he fell to the ground.
