⬆picture of Hope!I went to my fifth period class and sighed. All day and no sign of Alec or Josh since I had spoken to them. Fifth was my math class and I had it with Josh and Hope. I was doing Algebraic equations with Hope when the door opened and Josh came stomping in taking his seat next to me. His lips was busted and he had a developing black eye.
"Oh my god! Josh what happened?" I asked and he clenched his jaw.
"Nothing." He said making me grimace. I looked over at Hope who was close as if trying to listen.
"Josh just tell-" I went to say and he stood.
"I can't tell you!" He said and everyone looked at us.
"Josh, sit down." Hope said and he sighed sitting. We went through the rest of class silently and when the bell rang Josh ran out. I followed leaving poor lonely Hope behind. Following Josh was hard with crowds of people but he was tall and easy to pick out in his red sleeveless shirt. I followed him out past the halls and behind the gym. I was about to confront him when someone grabbed my arm. I gasped and went to scream but they covered my mouth. They turned me to reveal Alec. He motioned for me to be silent and moved his hand.
"Alec? What's going on?" I asked and he shook his head and nodded towards the corner. He moved around me peeking around the corner. There stood Josh alone staring at the ground for a few moments before he began growling. His muscles began to grow and his clothes tore as his body became more hairy and his face longer. Soon he was a lighter spitting image of the creature that had been in my room. I felt tears filling my eyes as I watched him get onto his hind legs and growl. Alec grabbed my arm and began pulling but I wouldn't move. I just stood watching him.
Joshua, Josh my best friend was the creature who hurt me? I asked myself as he turned and ran the opposite way on all his hands-er-paws and disappeared into the preserve. I turned and sat against the wall sliding down. My tears began to roll down my cheeks at that moment and Alec sat there watching. I needed someone to blame. I needed something to blame so I turned to him.
"Why did you let me see that!?" I asked and he scoffed.
"Would you have been quiet if I dragged you away?" He asked still whispering. I looked down. He was right but I rather of had an angry Josh than know he was that- that thing. It was like a fairy tale. I always hated them. Everyone always ended up happy whereas they were actually hurt, sad and mad. I looked at Alec and sighed.
"What is it?" I asked and he sighed.
"Lycanthrope." He whispered and I sighed looking down.
"And your one?" I asked and he looked down.
"I, uh, well." He began and I looked into his eyes.
"Alec, just answer the dam question." I said and he sighed.
"Yes." He said and he looked away. I felt my eyes filling with tears again.
"Are you the-" he cut me off with a nod. I felt myself become defensive and slid up the wall staring at him.
"I didn't mean to hurt you, or scare you but you needed to know. I didn't know a better way to show you." He said and I shook my head. He reached out to touch me but I jumped backwards.
"Alec, stay away from me." I said turning to run but bumping into a hard chest. I followed up and to big green eyes. I felt all the air leaving my lungs as the creature stared back into my eyes.
"Josh..." I squeaked and it's eyes flickered to Alec before it went past me and jumped on him. Alec tumbled backwards changing more forcefully then Josh had into the same creature from my room. Josh waited until he changed before attacking Alec. They fought tumbling over each other, claws tearing, teeth biting and roars escaping. I just stood in shock as they fought. Josh picked Alec up and slammed him against the wall. He took his animals paw hand thingys and tightened them around Alec's throat while Alec struggled. I couldn't let them kill each others like that, it would be murder. I ran up to the giant Lycan Josh and began beating on his side.
"Josh, stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!" I cried until I was out of breath. The creature turned to me letting up a little on Alec and huffed. I felt myself becoming dizzy and began falling backwards until I hit the hard dirt. Josh threw Alec to the side and landed on all fours his deep blue eyes looking within mine.
"Josh?" I asked and I caught a glimpse of sadness in his eyes. Josh turned to Alex and I realized that they were communicating. Josh told Alec to do something and he got up running off while Josh stood on his hind legs and began to shrink. His over powering muscles turned to his overpowered human ones and his body became less hairy and naked. I was too busy dealing with my loss of brain to worry about his nakedness so when Alec came running around the corner, shirts on and threw a pair to Josh, I didn't care. Alec came to pick me up but Josh grabbed his arm.
"Don't touch her. I'll get her, get a blanket." He said and Alec nodded grabbing the other article of clothing he brought and handed it to Josh. Josh knelt next to me and looked in my eyes.
"Hang in there, Tara." He said before placing the blanket over my head and picking me up bridal style. At some point the wind began rushing around us and the blanket opened a little revealing thick green trees and shrubs. But it only lasted a while before something inside me woke up and I began crying and squirming. The arms around me tightened and I heard Josh's voice.
"Its okay. Shhh, were almost there." He said before I blacked out.
