THIS WEEKEND FELT like it was going to be a long one. The day before I ran from the end of my driveway into the comforts of my home, I was nearly drenched to the bone from Kaden's car. Unfortunately, with getting so caught up in everything it slipped my mind my sister Allison was home or that she was waiting for my call.
Nonetheless, Allison was very amused. "I never thought I'd see Kaden drop you off," She had said.
Flushed and embarrassed I had promptly walked off to my room. It wasn't any good persuading Allison that there wasn't anything between Kaden and I. Allison enjoyed teasing me and one of the best ways to agitate me was with the mere mention of Kaden. Yet, as I entered my room, I was more frustrated than angry. I took several steps to the window pushing all thoughts of that dratted boy off my mind. It became a habit since I was younger to always shut my windows. My fingers touched the soft fabric and I peered into Kaden's room. He never really cared to pull the curtains close. He was, unsurprisingly in his room and I had a fantastic view of him from my window. He wasn't facing the window, his back turned to the door. His fingers touched the edge of the damp fabric on his torso before rapidly pulling it over his head.
Close the window, my mind instructed, but I was frozen in place, watching the muscles on his back move and flex. His back was slim, broad and lean. His muscles rippled as his hand pulled out his belt. Then his hands travelled to the side of his pants; the waistband of his jeans, arms tanned and muscular and he was pulling them down.
I flushed, closing the curtains before I saw more. If Kaden caught me, I'd never hear the end of it. I pulled off my own clothes away from the curtain before stepping in and showering. Since when have I gawked at Kaden? He was disgusting, horrible, arrogant and kinder than I thought.
I shook my head.
It was just one kind deed.
But it came from Kaden.
When it came to Kaden, nothing was light and easy. He was my every nightmare cast in the body of a human. It would be easier to hate him if he were ugly and disliked among my friends but no. This was Kaden. The unfortunately, attractive brunette of my school. Girls flocked to him, like bees to honey. How could he not end up confident with a stride that the world was at his feet.
Because it was to him. He knew how to work in a way that would make him victorious.
I shuddered slightly. Kaden turning down the bet wasn't because he was afraid of me. He knew he would win it. He wasn't even trying and his little kind gesture had me turning to jelly.
Snap out of it Amber.
I couldn't be weak much less let him, of all people, to win. Even though my thoughts were absolutely private, the fact I was thinking about him, letting him get to me...
