Hi loves, Your support is amazing so far, so I decided to do an early update.

Quick Question, but what Hogwarts house do you think Amber is in?

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

"You asked why I couldn't forgive you," Nick said, very quietly, and I jumped a little. "It was because you were the love of my life, Harper. And you didn't want to be. That's hard to let go."

Kristan Higgins, My One and Only

HER FINGERS PLAYED with the spoon, shifting it from her pinky finger to her fore finger her eyes were devoid of tears but ever so often you could catch a flicker of pain or a fleeting smile in her eyes. "Are you going to tell me about Archer?" I asked, impatient, wanting to hear the good rather than the bad.

Ever since she came home, we'd been talking about the bad. About dad's reaction, how mum hadn't stepped home since he had and the teary goodbye Allison had with our dad.

The future was murkier than a puddle and far from comforting.

It wasn't a one off thing either, Allison had gone to mum's office one day and saw mum kissing someone that didn't have peppermint hair, or grey eyes that crinkled when he smiled or was as tall as my father. Mum had assured her it was a mistake, and it was the first time.

Allison believed her.

Well as much as Allison could believe anyone.

Which wasn't much. Considering how Allison snooped on mums emails from her laptop. Through a hefty pile of work related emails, Allison found several messages from her co-worker about meeting him at his place so they could talk.

It wasn't as dodgy as her response which hinted that they would do more than talking.

Which why when she did eventually see mum at home, early of all things, Allison snapped.

It wasn't your fault. Allison had assured me all through the drive here. But words were fickle and small and irrelevant because actions spoke louder. You could tell someone you loved their taste in fashion but when they gave you a shirt they liked and you hate- did you really like their taste in fashion? I never trusted words because all they seemed to scream were lies. Actions spoke for me, which was why as I glanced at my perfect sister who managed to control her emotions enough so that mum and dad won't-

It still felt like it was my fault.

Divorce.

I wasn't thinking when it fell out. I knew I shouldn't say anything but it fell out leaving discomfort in it's wake. Allison whose mind wasn't on Archer but our parents smiled a warm kind smile that made it hard for me to breathe, because if I was her, I'd blame me. I drove a wedge between both our parents.

Information is power.

Look at how Allison knew, how much gravity those words would have on dad. But it was also lethal, because it had far too much power and -

Allison's fingers grabbed my hand, pulling me back to her. Allison and I. In a cute little restaurant, filled with warm colours that was welcome in frosty mornings and nights. Or afternoons, when your world was falling apart just because you couldn't hold back your emotions.

"It's not your fault," Allison said, eyes flickering with concern.

I nodded, because I was Amber Lewitt. Amber Lewitt has her life together and her life definitely does not fall apart. She had a cheer leading team to carry on her shoulders all the way to nationals and juggle with her grades which will be far better than Kadens'.
