I truly believe that everything that we do and everyone that we meet is put in our path for a purpose. There are no accidents; we're all teachers - if we're willing to pay attention to the lessons we learn, trust our positive instincts and not be afraid to take risks or wait for some miracle to come knocking at our door.

MY MUM WAS rarely around. There were a lot of times I wished she was, but today wasn't one of those days. I wished Allison had left too, but she annoyingly, stayed at home. I'd catch her watching me downstairs. When I was upstairs it wasn't any different with her poking her unwanted head in my room.

"Can you leave me alone?" I told her when she opened the door to my room again, for what felt as though the thousandth time.

She raised her blonde eyebrow, pulling the door closed. I heart her footsteps going downstairs. Restless, My fingers pulled back the cold hard metal laptop, which I had slammed shut staring at Joey's facebook. Allison was like a coddling mother already, I didn't want her to catch me stalking.

I'd made good progress going all the way back to 2012. His facebook was filled with posts and statuses about football. He was quite active and he supported Manchester City and Barcelona. His favourite player was Neymar. Strolling through his facebook, I noticed all his recent posts were centred around football.

Then I found it.

This golden video of him dancing. He was about fourteen then and he was dancing to One More Night by Maroon 5. I watched greedily because I doubt I'd ever have the chance to watch him again. He was chubbier then, far from fit, but there was a grace to his movements, a charm to his smile. I missed him. We barely messaged, spoke before but I missed it, the possibility of us. The kind that would work. My friends would have approved of him. We'd have dance parties, and one day teach our own class of students.

We could always go back to that place Joey showed me, and dance our hearts out to the tango or perhaps a slow song. Maybe we could have opened up our own studio, one day.

A hollow pit started in my stomach and I felt a sob rise in my throat. The door clicked open and a blonde head poked in. She spotted the laptop easily but ignored it as she entered my room. I glanced down, trying to ease the hollow feeling in my chest.

I felt a warm arm wrap around me, "there, there," Allison said gently patting my back as a waterfall of tears broke forth. I was barely coherent as I told her what happened with Joey and I. But there wasn't much to tell.

That made me feel worse.

When the sobbing has reduced, I sat still in my sisters arms, and she played the video of him dancing on my laptop. "So you ended it with him?"

I nodded.

"Why?"

I watched the part where he jumps up moving effortlessly to the beat. "I don't love him."

Allison patted my back then she said softly, "Love at first sight is a lie Amber, it takes time, a whole lot of it before you fall in love. There's always somewhere to start. You barely knew Joey when it started, but you liked him Amber, you liked what you saw, but because it wasn't love for you, not yet, you left. You're crying at what could have been and I think it could have been love for the two of you but you ran away."
