"That's always seemed so ridiculous to me, that people want to be around someone because they're pretty. It's like picking your breakfeast cereals based on colour instead of taste."
John Green.

JOEY DROPPED ME off at home, it was nearing lunch by the time I went home from Joey's place. It was a slight drizzle now, compared to the heavy rain earlier. I turned to smile at him, gratefully. I had helped him clear up the mess from the party after breakfast and after Daisy and Kaden had left. After that as the rain hadn't ceased, Joey offered to let me shower at his place before dropping me home.
I was wearing Joey's older white shirt which smelt distinctly like him, men's aftershave and some strong perfume, a sharp cooling scent unlike any other I've smelt before. I topped it off with my own jacket and my mini skirt.
I smiled at the dark haired boy. How was it that I never really knew Joey? "Thanks, Joey for everything."
He raised his eyebrows, "Since when did Amber Lewitt become nice?"
I punched him teasingly, and we both grinned at each other briefly before I glanced away, "I think that's more of a reason to get to know me." I hugged him briefly before hopping out of his car, and dashing into my own home. The icy water combined with the wind, messed up my hair and stung my bare skin.
Pushing open the wooden door, I entered my home. I could hear the telly playing. Before mum or Allison could comment, I dashed to my room. I doubted they'd believe my cover story of sleeping over at Rekha's if I came back home in a distinctively guy's shirt. In my room, I covered the curtains before changing quickly to something far more presentable.
Then I ran downstairs skipping several steps as I went. I wasn't surprise to notice mum missing and Allison on the couch, eating popcorn. "Hey twiddle dee, who's the boy that dropped you off?"
I sat next to her, grabbing a handful of popcorn. "Why're you mad at mum?"
Her eyes narrowed, and she ate the popcorn in silence. She was watching one of those foreign films she liked. An Indian Film from what I could tell.
"Can you eat your popcorn quietly?" she complained.
To annoy her, I munched on it loudly. Allison paused the film she was watching to glare at me, her greys eyes meeting my own. She then threw all the contents of the bowl on me.
"Hey what was that for?" I shouted angrily.
"Clear up the mess, or I'll tell," Allison ordered, as she climbed up the stairs several steps at a time.
Scowling, I cleared up her mess. There are various things you didn't do to your younger sibling and such included throwing a bowl of perfectly good popcorn at them just because they pissed you off. What was her problem anyway? She'd tolerated far worse from me.
I thought we were more than that, how dare she threaten me with Joey. I just took him up on his offer at a lift home. She didn't even know the full story, yet, she would willingly rat me out to our mother.
Angrier at her threat. I ejected the movie, taking the CD with me and hiding in one of the places I knew she'd never find it.
