While I stirred in my bed, one of Adam's arms that were wrapped around my body pressed my chest against his. I opened my eyes and wrapped my arms around his neck and laid my head beside his. "What time is it?" I asked him.
Adam's body shuffled on the mattress; I heard him groan as he stretched to grab onto his phone on the night stand. We began to wait. "I think we need to get a clock," he suggested. After a couple minutes of waiting, his phone finally turned on. "Ten thirty," he told me. We both looked in fear at the phone screen. "We need to get going," Adam stated.
We both hopped out of bed without awkwardness while our bodies were exposed to each other. We pulled out clothes from our closet and began to clothe ourselves. Adam finished before me and brushed his untamed curly black hair. "Adam, you'll spend hours brushing your hair. Just go out like that," I suggested grabbing my brush and running it through my knotted hair.
"No one can see my hair like this." He pointed to his head.
Melodramatic, Olivia thought. I set my brush down and walked into the kitchen where I began to raided the fridge for something to eat. I gave up looking in there and grabbed a Fiber 1 bar and began to eat it. Adam came downstairs; somehow, his hair looked perfect like the day before. "You ate the last Fiber 1 bar?" he questioned. I nodded and heard Adam say, "oh my God."
I checked my phone before we left and noticed my hair in the mirror and gasped with horror; I wasn't going to go out of the apartment with my hair looking like crap... worse than crap if that's even possible. Rushing, I ran upstairs and grabbed onto a ponytail and pulled my hair into a ponytail.
"Are you going to come down or do I have to come get you?" Adam called out. "Because we'll be late if we don't leave now."
I came down the stairs and wrapped my arm around Adam's chest. "I just needed to fix my hair, Adam. Calm your jets," I told him. "Not everyone can have perfect hair like you," I joked.
Adam grinned down at me. "I know right?" He ran his hand through his still messy black hair. "Not everyone can have perfect hair like me." Standing on my toes, I kissed Adam's jaw while trying my best not to lose my balance and fall. "Seriously, Olivia, we need to get going." I returned to regular height and walked over to get my coat; I slid my arms into the sleeves and waited for Adam to put on his jacket. "Ready?" he questioned.
I nodded and opened the door. Adam left the house first then I, he locked the door behind me and we began to walk down the hallway towards the stairs. We always took the stairs... we're getting cardio in! After we finished jogging the fifteen flights of stairs, we exited out of the back door and made our way over to Adam's truck. Adam went towards the driver's side and I went to the passenger's side; we hopped into the truck and fastened our seatbelts. Adam put the keys into the ignition but the truck never turned on. I looked over at him and I saw him staring back at me. "Do you really want to do this?" he inquired.
"What else am I going to do, Adam?" I asked. "He'll find out anyways, I would rather have him think things through on the ride back to the apartment then leave the apartment and go who knows where."
Adam's fingers swept my cheek. "I just don't want to get hurt; I know how much Dougie means to you."
I knew it hurt Adam to speak that sentence even though we both knew that was the truth. After nine months, I still knew I had feelings for Dougie and Adam knew that. Even though Adam was with me, I knew he felt weird about the whole situation of Dougie coming into our apartment. There was no doubt that Dougie was going to remark about our relationship and try to get Adam worked up about something.
"Adam, Dougie was my past you are my now," I told him.
A smile spread across his face. He turned the key and the truck came to life. We travelled through Boston and arrived at the Boston airport. I spotted Dougie waiting outside of the airport, wrapped in his jacket and tapping at his phone. Adam parked a ways away from Dougie. "Stay here, I'll tell Dougie what's going on and I'll bring him here," Adam informed me as he leaned over and kissed my cheek.
