Chapter 3
Debbie slid into the table and put her hand on his arm. She leaned into him and tried to kiss him.
Ike leaned away to watch the girl with the red shoes again. "She's beautiful."
"She?"Debbie glowered. "Are you seeing somebody?"
He detached her hand from his arm. "Yes, I am. Excuse me."
He pushed past Debbie and headed towards the bar effectively cutting Allie off from her walk towards his friends' table. Seeing the relief that flooded her face, she didn't seem to mind.
Allie watched Ike make his way through the crowd towards the bar, ignoring the outrageous advances other women gave as he passed. Flirting with him could possibly get Kate off her back and save her from enduring a jello shot.
Opting to push Kate towards the hormonal college boys, she settled back against the bar and ordered. Kate gave her a look but said nothing when she saw the boy making his way towards her.
Allie turned away when the bartender gave her the drink so the full force of the sight of him caught her by surprise. Instant Frission, she thought borrowing a line from the latest Cosmo Kate had left in the bathroom.
"Hi", he said with a voice rich enough to cause diabetes.
"Hi", she answered her voice breaking off in her nervousness. She hadn't had any flirty conversations with any boy in a long time. She gave up a long time ago when they couldn't measure up to Alaric.
"This is the first time I've seen you around here. Which school do you go to?"
"Oakridge High"
"I go to Phillips. I'm going to be a junior this fall. But don't tell anyone or I might get arrested." Ike confided raising his eyebrows and grinning.
"Your secret's safe with me. I'm a minor, too." Allie whispered back grinning.
"Stop me from ever having sweets put anywhere near my belly button again. That sticky juice is going to be hell to get out." Kate said coming back from the jello shot then eyeing Ike who was still beside Kate. "You two look like you're thick as theives."
"So what brings you two here? Oakridge is a long way from here." Ike asked wanting to know more about the girl beside him and hoping her blonde friend could help him.
"We're running away from Allie's destiny. She thinks it's a guy from her past named Alaric. She can't remember his face anymore but she's convinced he's her soulmate." Kate answered trying to slide on the stool next to Allie and completely missing it.
"Yikes! that was close" Allie held Kate's arm trying to bring her back into an upright position. "It was really nice meeting you but we have to go now."
Allie reluctantly propped Kate on her shoulder and started heading out the door. She had really enjoyed talking to the guy in the bar.
She shook her head and tried again to remember Alaric's face. She was her first love and her soulmate. Not even a guy as cute as him could make her forget that.
She can't leave now. I just met her. Please God, there has to be a way for me to keep her from leaving my life forever. Ike looked around trying to find a way to keep the amazing girl he just met here. Then an idea clicked into place and was blurted out before he could think it through.
"My name's Alaric!"
