Lacey
The dinner table was starting to fill, I walked over and pulled out a chair next to Jacey for Amelia, "I'll get you something eat Love." I said placing a kiss on her forehead.
"Hey," Jay complained lifting her head towards me for a kiss as well before turning back to Amelia saying something about a pool in the loo which I didn't quite catch.
I walked into the kitchen to find the countertop filled with food, I made a plate for Amelia first then piled mine with twice as much food, my excuse being we'll be training hard and I'll need the fuel in the morning, but I'm just a big eater, besides once we're in Libya three squares would probably be hard to get. I looked around at the Marines making their plates as well finding theirs piled the same.
The young men greeted with 'Hey Gunny' While the smaller of the three ignored me completely. I signed not because I was upset but because I knew if we desperately needed to work as a team, and we didn't need some hot-head running their own game.
"Kids got some attitude," Morgan said from beside me. "She kind of reminded me of some young hot-headed punk I once knew."
"I wasn't that bad," I grumbled. "No, you were ten time worst. Except you weren't disrespectful enough to go after someone's wife." she nudged me and nodded to the table, I watched Sean take a seat next to Amelia.
"Fuck," I growled "you better find yourself another team member because I'm going to have to kill her."
"Easy there Lace," Morgan grabbed my arm "You've got to admit the girl's got some balls looks like she sniffed out the alpha and has issued a challenge." Morgan chuckled "I have an idea follow my lead."
Morgan walked over to Lauren and dropped off their plates "Hey everyone can I have your attention please, " she said walking to the head of the table. "McDonald, Smith, O'Riley front and center please." the three stood and moved towards Morgan who threw me a wink. I headed back to Amelia and took my intended seat which was now abandoned by the younger brunette. I pushed her plate aside and dug into my own food.
The three before you will be accompanying Lacey, Duke and me on assignment next week. Introduce yourselves." she motioned to them.
"Lance Corporal Hank McDonald, But everyone calls me Hulk." after getting a better look at him he did kind of resembled a younger Lou Ferrigno, muscles and all.
"Lance Corporal Ira Smith." the young black man spoke next. They call me "Izzy" he was the same height as first not overly huge but muscular nonetheless.
"Sergeant Sean O'Reilly." I ignored her introduction and continued eating I caught her glare from the corner of my eye. " I don't have one of those fancy nicknames" she continued to stare. Morgan dismissed the group allowing them to return to their seats. "Gunnery Sergeant, I believe you are in my seat " she spat out when she returned.
"Find another" I shot back without looking to her, all eyes turned in our direction as I continued eating. O'riley placed her hand on my right shoulder and I clenched my hands ready to stand. I felt a soft hand over mine calming me.
I turned my head and looked into the green eyes of my lovely wife calming even more. she smiled before leaning her head on my other shoulder. The young Marine released her grip and reached for her plate making her way to the other side of the table.
I Stood from my seat after eating, "I'll be right back Love, " I kissed Amelia's forehead and headed into the kitchen for her surprise. I returned glad to see my seat still unoccupied and placed a large tray of Mini Zeppoles in the center of the table before placing a caramel gelato in front to my wife.
