Sean
"She is traumatized by the events in Libya, I'm not sure if we can rely upon, ..."
"We all have somehow or another been traumatized, she'll be fine." I heard a voice say cutting off the other just as a phone rang. I tried to get my eyes to open, "Yes sir, I'm sorry we couldn't stop it in time. Yes, yes she's on her way. I'll keep you informed." The voice spoke.
"Nessreen I need you to get ready, you'll need to distract her if needed."
"Yeah, sure." The sounds around me were muffled and clear at the same ti if that was even possible. It was like hearing a conversation as it echoed through a tunnel.
"Hey... Kid... Sean." I kept hearing my name as it droned through my eardrums. "Sean," my eyes opened and locked with Morgan's, concern clearly visible on her face. "You're going to be okay kid." I realized I was in a bunk away from the others. I sighed knowing I had another episode. "PTSD can be a bitch," Morgan said rubbing her hand across my back as I laid curled in a fetal position.
"I thought that when I found out Lacey was alive this would be the end to the flashbacks," I sat up and leaned my elbows on my knees burying my face into my palms and sighed.
"It happens to the best of us. Shake it off, we've got work to do." I was glad Morgan wasn't going to let me sit around and dwell on my issues. "Lacey had been ordered back to Columbus earlier than expected," Morgan stood and motioned for me to follow.
"We've monitored an outgoing call to a disposable cell about 10 minutes after the news broadcasted the explosion, " she fumbled around with the shiny buttons near the surveillance desk. "Davis isn't too happy that there were no casualties. She ordered Lacey back asap."
I remembered watching Lacey pull the alarm on her way out, I concentrated on the thought, the look on her face as she looked around, it was as if she was struggling with a thought, battling with her emotions.
"She's fighting it,' I muttered to myself. 'How did I miss that before?' I watched as one of the monitors replayed the news footage while Morgan fiddled with another.
'Emergency crews have restricted all access to the warehouse district in South Chicago. All employees of The Lee Corporations Weapons Manufacturing Plant have been evacuated safely and there has been no report of injuries. A spokesperson for Lee industries stated that the cause is still unknown. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, along with military personnel have been called in to take over the investigation.'
"Finally," Morgan grumbled and pulled up a video footage from the hotel suite across the street. I watched as Davis paced the floor frustration clearly visible by the creases on the brunette's forehead. There was a knock at the door before it swung open.
"Is this live?"
"Yeah, Davis is pissed, she got on the phone a few minutes after you blacked out." I felt my face heat up again.
"God, I'm so embarrassed that the explosion triggered another back out."
Morgan continued on probably not wanting me to feel worse. "She's ordered Lacey back then called Mia," she pointed to the screen and turned up the volume just as Davis opened the door showing Mia standing there.
"This is all your fault," Davis railed into her before she could even make it into the room. "You're making her soft. I need a killer, not a one-woman demolition crew." She yelled.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Mia flung her jet black hair over her shoulder and plopped down on the edge of the bed.
"I'm talking about the Marine." She yelled and started pacing again. "This was supposed to be an event to distract her snoopy friends from WATT and draw them to Chicago. We can't break James out with them here in Columbus." I watched as Morgan scowled at the revelation.
