Lacey
I laid in bed and listened to the steady breathing coming from my wife watching the rise and fall of her bare chest as she curled up beside me. My eyes roamed her curvy figure coming to a stop at her belly. I reached out and placed my hand on her abdomen. A knot formed o my throat as I tried to swallow, tears I've been holding back for so long trailed down my cheek.
I had never been afraid going into any mission before, This time, though I had so much more to lose. But Sean was right about one thing everything that has happened in one way or another was my fault and time and time again I have failed to protect the ones I love. It was time to put an end to this there will only be one side walking away from this battle and I hope it would be ours.
The touch of a warm hand against my cheek drew my eye those deep green eyes I fell in love with from the very first time I'd saw them, those eyes I find myself falling in love with, again and again, day after day, "Baby," Amelia whispered her sleep voice causing more tears to fall . I knew I needed to be strong for her to show her everything would be alright, but I was at a loss for the first time in my life.
"I love you, Amelia." I pulled her into my arms, "I'm so sorry I have to go away," I spread my fingers out covering her belly., "Whatever happens know I will try to come back as soon as I can." I knew, this time, I could make a promise I may not be able to keep.
"I know you will my love," she placed her head on my chest, "you have never let me down before. You go, concentrate on the mission ahead of you, we'll be safe here I don't want you to worry about us, we'll be here waiting for you as long as it takes."
With the sound of the light rap on our door, I pulled the covers over our bodies, knowing the time was drawing near, I let out a sigh and buried my face into my wife's neck and inhaled her familiar vanilla scent. "Come in," I called out.
My sister entered and stood at the edge of the bed just as teary-eyed as me."Get in here," I reached a free hand out to her, she quickly sunk into my arms on the opposite side of me from Amelia.
"Ley," a child's squeal busted through the door as a bundle of blonde hair leaped onto the center of the bed landing directly on my midsection. I released a groan as air escaped my lungs, followed by a fit of giggles as Jacey squeezed in between Amelia and me, next into the room was Morgan followed by Jackie, Morgan slipped behind Lauren and placed her arm around her, Jackie stood at the foot of the bed and pulled out her cellphone.
"Go and get in the picture you two, Doctor West suggested as she followed Sean into the room. Jackie and Sean squeezed beside Amelia. "Now this is what I like to see," Sherisa smiled at the group piled on top of the large king size bed.
"Hot babes piled in a large bed?" Morgan answered.
"Shut up and smile dork."
"Signorina, your grandfather had arrived and would like to meet with you and Signorina Crawford in the study. " one of the security guards said from the doorway.
"I'll back soon love," I leaned over and kissed Amelia on the forehead before attempting to sit up.
"Baby, maybe you should let the others leave so you can put some clothes on. " Amelia giggled.
"Eww Lace," Lauren rolled on top of Morgan in an attempt to get off the bed at the same time Sean fell off on the other side. Amelia tosses a hand Jay's eyes as the sheet fell from my chest exposing my well-defined abs. "asshole," Lauren squealed and she ran from the room. Sean who was now back on her feet also reached over to cover Jackie's eyes as she shot me daggers.
"if looks could kill," Morgan laughed as Sean pulled a grinning Jackie from the room, Morgan got up ad walked towards the door, stopping near Sherisa as she gently placed a finger under her chin to push your mouth closed. "Careful Doc, your drooling," she teased.
