Lacey
It seemed like a distant memory, that day in the hospital, everyone stayed close by Jackie's side during that time, but no one more than Sean.
After Morgan bought the poor nurse to the attention of the authorities, as well as the case leading up to the reason behind Brad's detainment, they released Jackie pending further investigation. WATT petitioned for the case which was denied due to a conflict of interest.
An anonymous benefactor who had friends in the government, brought in the best attorney money could buy. The Richmond's decided the wanted to 'save face' as they called it, in their world of politics. Guess bad seeds never do fall far from the tree.
With Thomas' death confirmed in Syria, though unofficially, and now the death of their youngest, they were hard pressed to cover up any of their wrong doings. They had a long road ahead of them and as the weeks turned into months, the Richmonds' name still managed to cause turmoil in our families lives.
My wife and our daughter Criscee, who was already six months old, were together as she and Jace played while I continued my daily scan of the internet. There had been no word of the Major nor my formal stepfather since their disappearance and that always kept me on edge.
Sean and Jackie bought the house next door when it became vacant. It was imperative that our families not be apart until the trial and the threat was over.
"I think I found something," the front door burst open causing me to reach for my gun.
"Ley, we've talked about this," my wife scolded me for having my weapon drawn. "What if Jace or Criscee was to get ahold if that?"
"I'm sorry," I sighed and holstered my gun knowing better than to argue with her.
"Let's take this to the office," I said motioning Sean to follow me.
"Sean," Jackie said pulling her close so she could whisper something into her ear, she blew out a breath and nodded, guess I'm not the only one ruled by love, I smiled and looked at my wife before heading down the hall.
I gave a quick wrap on Morgan and Lauren's door before continuing to the office. The three of us worked from home to make sure our loved ones were never out of sight.
Sean entered as we sat and waited for Morgan, "Um, I need to tell you something before we get started." I nodded for her to continue. "My name is Seandra O'Reilly Santino, my father, our father is Victorino Santino of Italy. I am your sister, Lacey," she said.
I gave her a puzzled look, I never knew my father's name, not that I was never given the chance to, but I never felt he deserved to know me after leaving my mother. I blamed his absence for James return and the hell that man unleashed on my family.
"What?" I said clenching my jaw. My anger for him ran deep and now this, someone I had come to accept, someone I had come to trust had betrayed me. I lept to my feet, reaching over and grabbed Sean pulling her over the desk and slammed her onto the floor.. "What the fuck are you saying."
"She's saying she's your sister you blind fuck," Morgan said as she walked in while I continued to pin Sean to the floor. "Get off of her." Morgan grabbed me by the shoulder.
I shrugged off her hand, "This has nothing to do with you."
"And your anger towards that man has nothing to do with her." Morgan was the only one who knew how much I despised my father. Sean looked up at me, the look in her eyes reflected her pain. A pain of betrayal, the same painful look I had in my own eyes when James would beat me for not being his daughter. The same pain of betrayal I felt for my own father not being there to protect me.
