Connie and Jacob hadn't said a word to anyone, especially not Grace, although everyone other than Charlie was still concinced they had split up.
Connie hand booked an appointment with maternity for two days later, of course under her maiden name as to now arise suspicion.
She had also ensured to book it for a day they both had off, in the morning before Connie was picking grace up from school for her to have lunch at home.
Jacob picked Connie up then drove to the hospital, going through the back entrance to ensure they weren't seen by anyone they knew.

Connie gave her name in then sat down in the waiting room with Jacob squeezing her hand until they were called through.
She new the drill so rolled her top up to her bra line and lowered her jeans slightly after lying on the bed.
Jacob held her hand as Mr T squirted the gel onto her stomach then began to move the probe around.
He switched the screen on and Connie and Jacob watched it intently, looking for signs of their baby.
"How many weeks do you think you are?" Mr T asked.
"About eight" Connie replied.
He nodded and continued to move the probe around her stomach.
A few minutes later he let out a defeated sigh and turned the screen off.

"There's no baby is there? Connie asked as she wiped the gel off her stomach.
"I'm sorry, I'm afraid your test was a false positive" Mr T replied.
Jacob squeezed her other hand but the pulled away, adjusted her clothes then threw herself off the bed and walked out.
"Connie! Babe wait" Jacob said as he went after her towards the stairs.
"Why? It happens, I guess it just wasn't meant to be, I suppose it's worked out for the best anyway. This way everyone's happy, what good would I be with a baby anyway?" Connie said as she turned to face him, clearly attempting to put on a brave face as she looked at him but she crumbled in seconds.

She sank down against the wall sobbing, not caring who saw her or what anyone thought of her.
Jacob sat down next to her and wrapped his arm around her allowing her to cry into his chest.
"Shh baby I know it hurts, I know but I'm here for you" he said soothingly.
"But I feel so stupid, crying over something that was never even there, how can I love and miss something that never existed" she cried.
"It's completely normal to feel like this babe, I love something that wasn't there too and that's ok, you're allowed to grieve sweetcheeks because the baby was there to us. Come on he's only a doctor, what do they know?" Jacob said.
Connie nodded and giggled slightly at his last comment, hitting him in the chest lightly.

"Do you think Grace will hate me if I don't take her out for lunch? I don't think I can face it" she said quietly.
"Why don't you ring Zoe? Grace loves spending time with her, she'd be delighted. And I'm sure Zoe would be happy too" Jacob replied.
Connie nodded and got her phone out and rang her, "hey Zoe, it's ok if you're busy but I told Grace I'd take her out for lunch today, thing is I don't really feel up to it. Would you mind taking her for me?" she asked.
"Course I'll take her. Are you ok?" Zoe replied.
Connie went to reply but instead broke down again letting out a loud sob.

"Connie?" Zoe asked.
Connie cried and handed the phone over to Jacob who put it to his ear, "she's alright Zoe, I've got her" he said.
"Jacob? Are you two back together?" Zoe asked in shock.
Connie heard what she said and nodded at Jacob confirming that he could tell her, "we never broke up in the first place, it was all an act for Grace, so please don't tell her, or anyone for that matter" he told her.
"Course I won't, please tell Connie if she needs anyone else to talk to I'm here" she said.
"I will, thanks Zoe" he replied before ending the call.
He put it into Connie's bag then stood up, taking both of her hands and pulling her up too, "come on sweetcheeks, let's get you home" he said as they walked down the stairs.
