Ultimatum - (completed)

Chapter 8

Jacob took Connie back to his as it was closer then sent her straight upstairs.
He went to the kitchen and made two mugs of hot chocolate and two plates of toast which he then took upstairs too.
Connie was stripping off down to her underwear then Jacob grabbed one of his t-shirts and handed it to her after putting the tray down on the bedside table.
"Thank you" she said with a weak smile as she placed it over her small frame.
Jacob stripped down to his boxers then they both got into bed.
He handed Connie her drink and toast who smiled greatfully before eating and drinking.

They both finished then Jacob placed the cups and plates on the side before wrapping his arm around Connie's shoulder.
She snuggled into him and rested her head on his chest letting out a sad sigh.
Jacob kissed the top of her head softly, "I love you sweetcheeks" he whispered.
"I love you too" Connie replied as she ran her hand over his chest.
"Connie, you know if you want a baby then I'd be more than happy for us to try" he told her.
Connie smiled softly, "thank you Jacob. Maybe sometime soon, but right now as stupid as it may sound, I need time to grieve" she told him.
"I know baby, I know. But trust me, it doesn't sound stupid. I'm upset too" he replied.

Meanwhile Zoe pulled up outside Grace's school.
Grace came out a few minutes later and looked around for Connie but instead spotted Zoe.
"Hey Zoe, where's mum?" she asked.
Zoe actually had no idea where Connie was or why she was so upset but wasn't going to mention anything to Grace, especially with Connie being with Jacob.
"Oh, she had to work sweetheart, sorry" she told Grace.
"Can we go to see her at work?" Grace asked.
"Not today no, she's out with the paramedics" Zoe lied causing Grace to gasp in horror.
"But last time.. She nearly died!" she said worriedly.
"Oh! No! It's not like that this time, she's only gone to do a home visit to a patient that can't make it to the hospital" Zoe told her.

"Do you promise? No one told me anything last time then suddenly I was saying goodbye!" Grace said with tears filling her eyes.
"I promise sweetheart, I really promise" Zoe reasurred her.
"Can you ring her? Please? If she's ok then she'll be able to ring, she's always said she'll put me first before work now" she begged.
Zoe nodded hesitantly then Grace took her phone out and quickly called Connie who answered a few seconds later.
"Mum?! Are you ok?" She asked her.
Connie sighed, "Zoe told you?" she asked.
"Yes, are you ok?" Grace asked again.
"I'm fine now sweetheart, I just got a little emotional that's all but I'm ok, just having a lie down" Connie told her.

"Huh? I thought you were out with the paramedics again?" Grace said in confusion.
"Oh, oh yes I am" Connie lied.
"No you aren't.. I can tell when you're lying. Mum why did you say you were upset? Why didn't you come to get me?" she asked.
"I'm sorry Gracie, I just didn't feel well that's all and I know you can get worried so I just wanted to rest for a while. Is that ok?" Connie said.
"Yes, but after lunch can Zoe bring me home so I can look after you? Please mum" she begged.
Connie looked at Jacob who was listening then he nodded at her, "yes sweetheart if that's ok with her" she told Grace.
"Thank you, I'll see you soon" grace said before ending the call.
