Chapter 16

Connie ended the phone call and looked at Jacob, "Sam's angry at me but he said she needs to stay here. It's disrupting her education all this moving about. I know what I did was wrong and he's told me I need to make it up to her but he's not prepared to take her back to New York again and for once a her right. She needs to be here, maybe she will hate me for a while but she needs her mum doesn't she?" she explained.
"Yes baby, she does. And he is right, her moving away wouldn't solve anything and I can guarantee she'd want to come home with in minutes because she'd miss you so much" Jacob replied.
She nodded and moved into his arms then he placed a soft kiss to her hair, "let's go back to bed for a cuddle. I hate seeing you stressed and upset" he said.

They went upstairs and into Connie's bedroom, getting into bed and curling up together.
Jacob stroked Connie's hair gently, neither of them saying a word, just exchanging glances and gentle kisses.
Connie looked up as the door opened slightly and Grace stood there with tears streaming down her face.
"I don't want to go back, please don't let me go back" she sobbed.
"Oh Grace, come here" Connie said as she sat up and opened her arms.
Grace threw herself on the bed and into her mums arms, "I was angry at you, I still am and I'm still upset but I can't go back. I'd miss you too much, both of you. I love dad and em, but I want to be here. Please call him back and tell him I've changed my mind" she cried.

Connie stroked he hair, "sweetheart I'm not sending you back. Yes I've spoken to your dad but we agreed that you going back to New York wouldn't be for the best. Me and Jacob want you to stay here. I feel terrible for lying to you and terrible for not listening to Jacob, but I'm so sorry. I'll always be honest you from now on ok?" she reassured her.
Grace nodded and hugged her tightly, "thank you mum. I love you so much" she said.
"I love you too baby girl" Connie replied.
"We both do firecracker" Jacob added.
Grace pulled away from Connie then lent over and hugged Jacob, "I'm sorry I was so horrible to you at the start, and thank you for making my mum so happy" she said.
Jacob grinned and hugged her back, "well she's an amazing woman, I can see where you get it from" he said.

Grace smiled and moved her way inbetween both of them then snuggled down.
"Are you... Are you ever going to have a baby?" She asked.
Jacob reached over and squeezed Connie's hand as she looked at Grace.
"We want to sweetheart, we really do. Hopefully one day, soon, we will have a baby because I know it would make us all very happy but since I'm being honest, I'm not making any promises that I may not be able to keep. As much as we want it to happen, some times it just doesn't work out" she told her.
Grace nodded, "I really do hope it happens" she said.
"Me too firecracker" Jacob agreed.
