Monroe’s birthdays in a month, November second. I have absolutely no clue what to get him.

I mean you think because Monroe was my boyfriend I would know everything there is to know about him, and what he likes right? nope. I have nothing, nada, zilch-nothing.

So, I’m taking the problem into my own hands, which is why I’m using to my free period to hunt down one of Monroe’s friends, whichever one I see first that is.

“River!” I called down the hallway, picking up my pace.

“Chanel?” River said tilting his head to the side.

“I need your help.”

“Should I go get Monroe?” River said pointing his thumb towards the classroom.

“Cause I was just about to go in there-”

“No!” I said a little too quickly.

River gave me a puzzled look, but slowed his pace so I could keep up with him.

“It’s about Monroe, his birthday. What do I get him?”

River slouched his arm around me, dodging the people in the hallways.

“I don’t know anything about Monroe, I don’t know what he likes, dislikes, I’ve got nothing!”

I said sighing throwing my hands up in the air.

“Monroe likes you, Monroe doesn’t like presents.”

I rolled my eyes at River’s answer.

“River, please.”

“Monroe likes surprises.”

“Surprises?”

River nodded his head.

I bit my bottom lip, a plan  popping into my head.

“Thanks Riv!” I yelled down the hallway, and gave me a thumbs up before turning around and going back towards his classroom.

Monroe Taylor, prepare to get your socks blown off your feet.

too much?

Okay, so I exaggerated a bit, so what!

“Why were you talking to River today?” Monroe asked me, while we sat in our seats waiting for Mr. Briggs to arrive.

“I had to ask him something.” I said shrugging my shoulders not taking my eyes off of my phone.

Word travels fast around this school. The new rumor is, I’m cheating on Monroe with River because I can’t decide on which one I want.

gotta love the halls of Aleria High.

“About?” Monroe pushed.

I rolled my eyes leaning back into my seat.

“You.”

“Why?”

“I can’t talk to your friends?” I said in an annoyed tone.

“Of course you can! I just want to know what you guys talk about.” Monroe said shrugging his shoulders.

“Don’t be that boyfriend.”

“What boyfriend?”

“The type of boyfriend who gets his panties in a bunch because his girlfriend talks to his friends when he isn’t around.”

Monroe scoffed, before saying.

“I am not that boyfriend, whatever you wanted to know about me you could’ve asked me Chanel.”
