A/N : The picture above is the sidewalk in Lake George. You can kind of visualize how you can walk right next to the water... Keep that in mind for this chapter...

Chapter 3

Later...

Jen POV

I was still pretty upset about what my ex had posted. I unfriended him, but I still felt miserable about the whole thing. I decided I'd go sit down by the docks, watch the sunset, and try to forget about everything.

Riker POV

I saw Jen walking down the road towards the beach. I decided to go down there too, and see if I could build our friendship a little.

The truth was, I thought she was pretty, and I kind of had a crush on her. So I thought maybe if I could get her to like me, we could possibly become a couple.

I was too scared to do anything drastic, so I figured I'd start out small.

I saw Jen sitting on one of the docks. I walked down, and sat next to her.

"Hi!" I said, happily.

"Hi..."

"Is something wrong?"

"Yeah. My life..."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Nope."

Jen stood up, and started walking away.

"Jen, wait!"

"What?"

"Can we talk for a minute?"

"What do you want, Riker?"

"I just wanted to know if you wanted to hang out or something...?"

"No. I have too much on my mind."

She started walking away again. I ran to catch up with her.

"Jen, wait! Is it something I did? I feel like you're avoiding me or something."

"No, Riker. I just hate all guys, ok?"

I was confused. But then I realized maybe she had a bad breakup...

"Well, I'm not that bad..." I said, walking next to her, up the road.

"You're still a boy."

"So?"

"So, I don't like boys. They're all stupid insensitive jerks."

"I'm not like that."

"Yeah, sure you're not."

"I'm not!"

"Why are you even still here!?"

"I live up the road too, you know."

Jen sighed.

"Whatever..."

"Can't you at least give me a chance? There's no other kids that live on this road. I don't have anyone to hang out with."

"How about your 500 siblings?"

"No. They're annoying sometimes."

"Well so are you."

Jen turned, and went inside her house. I stood there for a second before going into my own house. She was not having a good day...

Jen POV

I honestly never meant to snap at Riker like that, and be so rude. It just sort of happened. It'd been a sucky day, and I just wanted to curl up in bed, and hide from everyone.
