Chapter 20
Morning...
Jen POV
I woke up, and realized I was on the couch in Riker's arms. I carefully slid out from his arms without waking him, and snuck to my bedroom. I didn't know if he was going to be mad or hate me when he woke up, and I was kind of scared. Mike ruined everything.
Later...
Riker POV
I woke up, and Jen wasn't with me anymore. I walked down to her bedroom, and saw her crying in bed.
"Jen, what's wrong?"
"I don't want you to be mad at me!"
"I'm not!"
I went over, and hugged her.
"It wasn't my fault, Riker!"
"I know, I know. Mike messed everything up."
Jen had her arms tight around my neck. I rubbed circles on her back, trying to get her to calm down. And after a few minutes, she did.
"How about we go for a walk, and get some fresh air, ok?" I asked.
Jen nodded. We broke from our hug, but grabbed hands, and walked down the road like that. We walked down to the docks, and stood at the end of one of them. I had my arm around her waist, pulling her close to me.
"Jen?"
"What?"
"I was just wondering... Are we still a couple?"
"That's up to you. You're the one who broke up with me."
"Well then yeah, I want to be a couple. Is that ok with you?"
Jen nodded, and wrapped her arms around my middle. I looked down, and she looked like she was going to start crying again.
"Jen, come on. Don't cry. There's nothing to cry about. We're together. It's going to be a good day."
"How do you know?"
"I'll prove it."
I picked her up, and then jumped off the dock while she screamed. We came back up to the surface about 5 feet away from each other.
"I'm going to kill you, Riker Anthony Lynch!" Jen shouted, smiling slightly at me.
"You'll have to catch me first!"
I grabbed the dock, and pulled myself up. Jen did the same, so I started running. But she was faster than I was, and she caught up to me when I reached the beach. She grabbed my hand, and stopped me. I turned to her to find her smiling, which made me smile.
I put my hands on her shoulders, but they somehow found their way to her waist. It was like we were both thinking the same thing. We leaned in, and kissed.
My mind was instantly racing. It's my first kiss! What if it sucks!? I don't even know what I'm doing right now! What if she breaks up with me because I'm a bad kisser!? What if-
We pulled apart, and Jen was smiling at me. She wrapped her arms around me tight, and I did the same.
"J-Jen?"
"What?"
"Was that ok?"
"Was what ok?"
"The kiss? Um... It was my first..."
"Riker, you were perfect. But um... I have something to tell you."
My heart started racing as we pulled apart.
"W-what is it?" I asked.
Jen took my hands.
"I love you."
My mouth fell open.
"Really!?" I asked.
Jen nodded.
"I love you too!"
I pulled her into another hug, and we just stayed there on the beach for a while. It was perfect.
The end.
A/N: So there will be a sequel, just not yet. I'm going to publish a different book first, and it's called Framed. It's not a romance, but it's about Riker. He gets framed for murder, and locked in prison. How will he survive in a maximum security jail? The answer - not very well. First few chapters will be up today. Thanks for reading and voting! ~Kylie
