Chapter 15

Later that night...

Jen POV

I couldn't stop crying. I had started thinking about everything that happened today. And for some reason, it really bothered me that Riker left, and I wanted nothing more than to be in his arms right this minute. I missed him. Who cares how he protected me if he was successful? I just want him back.

I snuck out my window, and went across the street, trying to quiet my crying. I wasn't very successful.

I knocked on the door, knowing nobody might answer since it was almost midnight.

About a minute later, the door opened, revealing Riker standing there in his pajamas and glasses. He came out and shut the door. He wrapped his arms around me tight, and I started crying harder into his shoulder.

"Aw, Jen... What's wrong?"

"Y-you left me!"

"I'm sorry..."

Riker sat down with me on his lap on his front steps. I had my arms and legs wrapped around him. He rubbed my back in circles slowly until I calmed down a little.

"I'm really sorry, Jen. I should've at least told you I was leaving."

I grabbed his hand, and intertwined our fingers tightly.

"Riker?"

"What?"

"Thank you for protecting me..."

"I thought you were mad."

"No... You were just trying to keep me safe..."

Riker sighed.

"No... I could've handled that better. I guess I was sort of... jealous..."

"Why?"

"Because I know you still feel something for him! And when he wanted to talk, I was jealous... I thought he'd try kissing you or something, and then you'd like it, and leave me..."

"Riker, I like you, ok? Not him."

"Yeah..."

He started rubbing my hand with his thumb.

"We should probably get back to bed before we get caught," Riker said, shifting his position slightly.

"Yeah..."

"Come on. I'll walk you back."

We stood up, still holding hands, and then Riker helped me climb through the window.

"I'll see you tomorrow, ok?" Riker asked.

"Yeah."

"Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

I stared out the window, and watched him walk home. I got comfortable in bed, and then fell asleep.

The next day...

Jen POV

Riker had come over pretty early today. He'd come so early that I was still asleep, and he ended up coming in through my window.

"Jen."

He was sitting on his heels next to my bed, poking my arm.

"What?" I grumbled, annoyed that he woke me up.

"Come on. Let's go have breakfast or something."

"I don't feel good..."

"What's wrong?"
