Roxy woke up to a slight ray of sunlight falling over her eyes. Her head throbbing, she rubbed her eyes and tried to recall where she was. After a moment of brainstorming, she remembered. She got up but at the very moment, everything spun inside her head. She felt like throwing up. Must be the effect of alcohol from last night. She paced down to the washroom where Bunny and Collins brushed their teeth.
Roxy ignored them and stormed inside and threw up. After she was done, Roxy got out holding her stomach as she felt her guts would just pour out if she didn't. Collins, who had done brushing asked her, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm good. Just threw up a little."
"Let me guess. You took extra shots?"
"Unfortunately, yeah."
Collins shook his head and Bunny washed his mouth, "Better watch out. Extra shots suck. Not at the moment though."
Roxy nodded and washed her face. The cool water calming every molecule of her skin. The head throb was still there. The boys left her to her privacy. She got refreshed and paced down to the pit to find the boys following their same routine. Max wasn't there.
"You're late, princess," A voice called to her that sounded more or less familiar. Roxy turned around to face him.
Donovan.
He had a smirk on his face that seemed evil to Roxy. He stopped just when he was a few steps away from her.
"Oh thanks, I didn't notice that," Roxy threw sarcasm to him.
"Pleasure, my liege," He laughed. Roxy glared at him. That made Donovan smirk a cocky smirk.
Roxy ignored him and walked past to grab her training outfit and get changed. Donovan shook his head and continued to train.
Going to the restroom, she slipped into sweatpants and her sportd bra. She looked at her reflection in the mirror.
God, she hadn't even noticed that she was beginning to build up packs. Her arms were strong too, now. The training helped her look less like a small innocent girl. The tougher the merrier. She smiled to herself and then jogged back to the pit, ready for some punching and kicking. By the time, she'd come off as a good fighter. Still junior, Roxy needed guidance as she wasn't a born fighter. It was that, the fighting skills were adaptions.
She started training, punching, jabbing, hooking. After an hour or so, the boys took a break and so did Roxy. They sat down on the floor chatting and drinking water. Roxy'd normally listen to them and make comments; but something cold crept in the back of her mind. Something really piercing and sickening that she almost gagged. Her head throbbed like crazy. Her visions were blurring too. It was as if something tried to force its was out digging her brain.
Quintin noticed her face turning pale and her cringing. He yelled something Roxy couldn't make out and the boys turned and hurriedly caught her before everything blackened out.
+++++
There was a quite buzzing inside her head as if the nerves were vibrating. It felt weird. The darkness subsided and a blurry face popped up. She couldn't make it out but the face seemed familiar. Like, really familiar. It was a guy. The face seemed to smile and she didn't know how but it made her feel happy. As if the guy was her lucky charm. Then the scene dissolved into mist and it was dark again.
"I don't know, she passed out," Donovan said to Max. Roxy slowly opened her eyes.
The boys noticed it and everyone turned to her. Max's face was concerned and worried.
"Are you okay, Roxette?" He asked.
She rubbed her eyes clumsily and nodded, "Yeah I guess."
"You should have some sleep," Donovan spoke in a soft voice. It sounded weird to Roxy when it came to a dangerous delinquent like him. His eyes were compassionate and warm, "Let's go, boys." He said.
The boys wished her well and left one by one. Quintin stood by the door and gave her a small smile before leaving. She wondered why he was acting weird. So delicate and careful. It was not the Quintin she used to know. He wasn't jumpy around her anymore. Rather he would get . . . shy?
She shook off the thought considering that her mind needed rest. She turned around and pulled the covers over her. But as she closed her eyes, the blurry face popped up in her mind. So she opened her eyes. She tried to remember. A part of her told her that she knew that man. That he'd been an important part of her life.
Her head throbbed again. She recalled that Max had told her that she'd had an accident before waking up here and that there was a temporary memory loss too. What if she was starting to remember?
What if her memories were coming back in bits?
What if . . .
A piercing pain rose in the corner of her head and she got forced to close her eyes. A bit more minutes of suffering and she fell asleep.
