The clothes that Roxy had brought, had fitted her super-nicely. Plus, she was happy with what she had chosen. They were both comfortable and soft. Good for sports. She was to start taking her lessons from today. She had to prove that she was tougher than she looked. The boys had been waiting to see her bad side ever since. Of course, she hadn't been told that but somehow she did understood. Plus, there was that mall guy. What had she named him? Cock pox. Right! The next time she'd see him, he would get a kick right to the teeth. She was determined about it. Quickly changing into a black tank top and skinny jeans and having her hair tied up in a ponytail, she dashed town to the pit.
The boys were, as usual, there boxing, wrestling and stuff. Kinda felt like a gym to Roxy. Most of the gangsters would plot plans and drink alcohol and talk shit while playing poker but this was different. They exercised all the time without wasting time playing poker and all, just to keep healthy. Well, Roxy thought, there's a fair reason behind these guys having such seductive bodies. Nah, screw yourself, Roxette.
She jogged to Maxwell who was sharpening a big butcher knife. It didn't freak Roxy out 'cause she knew Maxwell wouldn't hurt her. Maxwell let out a hey and continued sharpening the knife. Roxy sat beside him and watched the boys rock about. She was really getting into all of these stuffs.
"So you're ready, Roxette?" Maxwell mumbled, hoping Roxy could hear him, "I mean, for your lessons?"
"To the bone," Roxy sounded pretty excited that thought about a smirk on Maxwell's face but he didn't look at her even for once. He just kept on sharpening the knife. That's called being responsible and dutiful.
After a moment, when Roxy was starting to get soaked into the training scene, a loud thud sent vibrations down her body. She shook the daze off to see what was the source of the thud. The boys had stopped, too. She turned to Maxwell and saw the knife pierced right into the hard cement ground. Maxwell had finished sharpening it and there it was; with an acute sharpness. The boys chuckled and some clapped.
"That's what you call sharp," Maxwell winked at Roxy. She couldn't hold back the wide grin that had already started to spread through her face.
"Awesome," Was all she could manage to say. Maxwell nodded.
"So, we're gonna start today, right?" He asked. Roxy nodded, "Great." He walked to the big fat bag that hung right from the ceiling above through a thick rope. It was a punching bag and Roxy had realized what she was gonna learn first. Boxing.
"As always," Maxwell continued, "We start with an ol' faithful punching bag." Kian ran out of the pit as Maxwell looked at him. That was creepy to Roxy but she shook the thought off.
"The bag's pretty hard and would heart your knuckles. We don't want you to be badly injured just from the beginning, do we? So you'll have to tie your knuckles with some soft, thick cloth to prevent them from being badly bruised."
Kian strolled into the room with a packet and handed it to Maxwell and shot a smile at Roxy. She returned it with an excited grin. The boys remained silent as Maxwell tore the packet and took out two thick, soft cloths, "Here," He handed them to Roxy, "Tie these around your knuckles. Come on, quickly."
Roxy did as she was told. They felt soft and comfortable. Plus, they made her hand look terribly cool.
"Now, hit the bag with as much force as you have," He said. Roxy punched the bag but it didn't move at all. She groaned, "Never mind," He encouraged, "Do it again."
Then after a few fierce punches, the bag finally moved and a new energy spread through her body. She hit it with more force and the bag needed to be hold. Benny did that.
As Roxy was gonna hit again, Maxwell fixed her arm in the right place, "A little higher. Keep your arm at a steady position."
Roxy obeyed and the boys cheered and corrected her as she hit the bag and trained for the first time. That was how her first day of training went.
