Their Day

"To the bride and groom," I said, holding my glass high over my head.

"To the bride and groom," the crowd echoed.

I looked at my sister, looking as beautiful as ever in her white wedding dress.

She looked as happy as ever with her fiancé of 4 years who had just become her husband.

All through that time, I had always looked up to her relationship and hoped I could have something like that someday.

A few years ago, I found that I actually might get my wish.

I had met my boyfriend, Chandler, and I couldn't help but seeing myself with him for the rest of life.

As I stepped off of the small stage that was set up for the speeches, Chandler wrapped his arms around my waist.

"You spoke beautifully," he said,
nibbling on my ear.

"I feel like I sounded like an idiot," I admitted.

He laughed and started to sway with the slow music that was playing.

My sister and her husband were already on the dance floor, moving to the song with little two steps.

Our parent looked at their eldest daughter with so much love, it almost made me want to cry. They then took each other's hand and joined the newlyweds.

"Don't worry Darling," Chandler said kissing my neck affectionately,"That'll be you soon enough."

I turned around and wrapped my arms around his waist, pulling him closer and swaying along to the music.

We stayed like that for the duration of the song, but separated when my sister announced that she would be throwing her bouquet.

I started to move away to clear the area, but the bride spoke up.

"I want to change things up for a moment. Instead of throwing the bouquet to the single ladies, I'm going to be throwing it to whoever isn't married."

I looked at Chandler and he smiled, motioning for me to go join the other girls who were desperate to get a ring on their finger.

In all honesty, I wanted to marry Chandler, but I was perfectly okay with waiting, just like my sister.

"Ready," my sister said before turning around,"One, two, three!"

Her arms flew over her head and the bundle of flower came straight for me.

When I caught them, everyone cheered.

I bowed with a small laugh and waved the flowers over my head, only to be smacked with something small that fell out of the hydrangea bunch.

"What the hell?"

I looked down on the ground to see a small, silver ring.

At first, I thought it was my sister' s wedding ring and it just got caught on the bouquet, but I had seen her wedding ring, and it was bigger than this one.

I bent to the ground and picked up the object.

"You're getting married," my mama squealed.

"Who's ring is this?" I asked, slightly confused by all the knowing grins around me.

"Yours," Chandler said,"Baby, I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"

I didn't know what to say.

I loved Chandler with every ounce of being in my body, but this was my sister's wedding, and there was a small part of me that was saying I was stealing her spotlight.

"Chan," I said, avoiding the eyes of all my hopeful relatives,"This is my sister's wedding. I don't want to steal her spotlight."

The cackling bride walked over to me and pulled me into a hug,"I don't mind. I actually helped set the whole thing up.  You didn't really think you could catch it, right? You couldn't even catch a ball if it was handed to you."

I smiled and gave her a tight squeeze.

Chandler gave me a hopeful and I couldn't help but fall in love with him all over again.

"Yes. I would love to marry you."
