"And this," my mom said, pushing the door open to the overly large mansion,"Is the house your uncle left to you."
I rolled my eyes,"I don't even know why he did. I hardly knew him, plus, I'm only sixteen. What the hell am I supposed to do with a huge ass mansion?"
"Language Bex," Mom warned.
"I just think it was a stupid thing to do. Why leave a mansion to a child you don't even know?"
"He wasn't just your uncle," my mom reminded me,"He was your godfather as well. He always told your father and I that he would always make sure you had the best. Sammy may not have been there all the time, but he always made sure to send letter to know how you were."
I rolled my eyes and left the conversation alone.
Recently, my mother and I seemed to be getting into this same argument over and over again.
She would try and explain to me that my uncle did try and get closer to me, but I have never once seen one of those letters.
When he died, my mom was extremely depressed, so there was no doubt in my mind that he meant a lot to her. It just seemed weird that this man that I hardly knew was leaving over half of his most expensive and extravagant items to me.
"I'm going to go upstairs and find a room that I liked," I said, earning a small nod from my birther.
As I ascended up the stairs, I started to realize why Uncle Sammy had found every single day known to man to go and leave the country.
His house was old and extremely gothic. Something you would find in a horror movie, or some odd fanfcition written by a girl who is terrible at describing the cringe worthy home.
"Of all the places he could have bought," I muttered,"He picked this one."
Rolling my eyes slightly, I decided to pick a room that would be far away as possible from the room I was almost sure my mom would choose.
With practically nothing else I could have done, I sat down on the bed that my mom had ordered in advance and started to go through boxes.
Pretty soon, the need to do something productive faded from my eyes, causing me to wander aimlessly past the glass window staring at the brightly colored leaves falling and flying freely in the slight wind.
Fall had always been one of my favorite seasons.
The nice, cool breezes. Changing leaves. Blankets and sweaters.
As the thoughts ran through my mind, I caught a glimpse of a boy standing in the woods, hiding behind a tree.
Staring directly into my room window.
As our eyes connected, his facial expression turned to fear and he ran off.
In that moment, the boy truly peaked my interest.
/-/
The boy continued to show up by the same tree for the next few days and I had come to the conclusion that I needed to find out why.
Today, instead of watching him from the window, I decided to go outside and hide until he came along, just like he did every other day.
Pretty soon, I heard the crunching of the hard, wrinkled leaves and the boy appeared into my field of view.
"Hey," I called, causing him to jump.
He turned on his heel, but I ran up behind him and grabbed his sleeve.
"Shit," I muttered,"You're cold."
He shook his head profusely and I frowned.
"You shouldn't be out here in..."
I looked down at his clothes. He was still dressed in summer apparell, like he hadbt caught onto the fact that it was autumn now.
"Listen," I smiked,"How about you come inside with me where it's warm and you can explain why you've been creeping around here lately."
The boy shook his head again and I raised an eyebrow.
"Cat got your tongue?"
He sighed,"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been here in the first place. I'll go."
"Will you at least explain why you're out here, looking into my window?"
I don't know why, but I needed to know.
Anyone else would have called the cops or threatened him, but something about him told me there was no danger.
"I- Well, it sounds kind of pathetic," the boy muttered, scratching the back of his neck.
"I don't mind," I urged.
"Well, I saw you moving in and I thought you were really pretty, so I was just looking.'
I felt a hot blush creep onto my cheeks as I muttered a quick thank you.
The day continued and the boy and I spent the majority of it together.
We went to the nearby lake, which was slowly freezing over as the temperature decrease, and told each other about ourselves. He told me his name was Chandler and he lived close by, not too far from the other side of the lake.
He seemed like someone I could get along with. Someone not so weird at this odd house.
"Well," I sighed, looking at the time,"I should probably get back. My mom is probably wondering where I've been all day."
He nodded and helped me off of the log we were perched on,"Then I'll see you soon, okay?"
I nodded and we parted ways. Chandler going to his house and me going to mine.
Like I thought, my mother was shuffling around the house, unpacking and rearranging when I walked in.
"Hey honey," she said,"Where were you all day? I could have used your help unpacking."
"I'm sorry," I said,"I met this boy and we were hanging out for a little while."
My mom gave me a smirk and I rolled my eyes, slipping my jacket onto the back of one of the misplaced kitchen chairs.
"A boy," she giggled,"What was his name?"
I laughed at her childishness,"Chandler. Chandler Riggs."
The smile slowly faded from her face as she gave me an odd look.
"What?" I questioned.
"Chandler Riggs?" she asked, sounding slightly on the verge of terror.
"Yes. He's my age, brown hair. Do you know his parents?"
She shook her head and sat in the kitchen chair.
"Mom," I pleaded,"Please tell me what's wrong."
"Chandler used to work for your uncle before he died from that snake bite."
"Okay?" I said, still not getting what was so bad.
"Rebecca," she whispered,"Chandler Riggs died that very same day from a snake bite as well."
Was it a little spooky....? Just a tiny bit...?
I tried.
Anyways, what's up guys? Long time, no see.
I've been really busy. Ya know, with work, school, homecoming obsessive girls (Don't ask) so I'm sorry about the long gap.
Sooooo. My babe, Kellin Quinn did a Q&A today and answered a lot of my friends that I made on my other account and he didn't answer me, so I was very highly upset.
Uuhhhhh. So yeah. Thank you for the amazing reads, votes, and comments.
Shout out to instariggs for the hilarious comments. They made me laugh very hard.Soooo, I think that's it.
