I woke up and turned to my right to see my gorgeous husband, Carl Grimes.
Most people thought that we wouldn't make it past the apocalypse, but we did. One by one, each walker went down and we were one less undead away from freedom.
Yes, there were still walkers walking around outside, but there weren't as many, so the environment was more stable than it had been in a long while.
I was content with the life I had made with Carl when we had finally gotten a signal through the radio and an announcement that it was okay to continue with a "normal" life.
I smiled as I thought about the honeymoon that I had with Carl.
At the time, we had a car that was one of the only ones with fuel around the camp. We had decided that since we couldn't have a traditional honeymoon due to our nontraditional wedding circumstances, that we would just go out in the car to a place where the land actually overlooked the sky.
Carl drove us to a cliff and we just sat there, looking at the fire in the November sky.
"It's beautiful," I had said.
Carl looked at me and smiled,"It is, isn't it?"
I had had no idea whether he was talking about me or the sky, so I just let it go.
It was so weird to be away from all of the violence that used to fill the streets and all the selfish machines that we called people.
Then again, it was weird to be married at such a young age.
"There's no such thing as too young," Glenn had said,"If you love someone, you should be able to do as you please."
I smiled at the thought.
Carl had turned to me and placed his lips on my own. I could taste the cool peppermint freshness of his breath and I remember wondering where he got peppermints from.
I kissed back as he lifted his hand and caressed my cheek with his thumb.
"I used to be afraid of everything," Carl had said against my lips, then shook his head, "No more living with my fears 'cause I gave them all away."
I smiled and pulled my lips to his again.
I remembered that day because it was one of the most special things someone had ever done for me.
Kissing in cars held a special meaning to me after that. It was something that made my mood escalate quickly from then on.
Carl woke up and saw me staring at him.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
I shook my head against the pillow and smiled, "Nothing."
