When we were together, Laurence and I watched football or soccer games he would always get invited to parties by some of his friends from varsity teams. Hr never showed up to any of them. He claimed that he hated parties, and so did I, so we'd never gone to a party together. And as far as I knew, he didn't go to any alonr either.
Not until now,
"Fancy seeing you here," I said when i recovered.
"what-what are you doing here?"
I was about to answere, but I saw his eyes lock on something behind me. I looked over my shoulder and saw Travis gazing impassively at Laurence.
Travis stepped closer to me and placed an arm around my waist. Without looking away from Laurence, he said," Come on Y/S/N. Let's go."
I saw Laurence's eyes dart to where Travis was touching me.
Laurence started into my eyes, looking even more puzzled than he did before. "Y/N? What..." he trailed off glaring at Travis. He looked confused.Uncertain.hurt.

Suddenly, the gears in my head spun. I took a step back, pressing myself against Travis, letting his warmth envelop me. Travis and I turned away before Laurence could react.
We continued to walk until we reached rose trellis at the side of the house. When I was sure we were hidden from the rest of the party, I slumped against the wall.
"You didn't have to do that. I could have handled that myself," I said
Travis snorted. "Right. You totally looked like you had it under control. You're not over him."

Having someone else tell me this felt like having the plug on the sink pulled, draining out all the lies I led myself to believe.
"Y/S/N," he said, pausing. He shook his head, shoved both of his hands in his pockets, and raised his eyes to meet mine. "I know heartbreak when i see it."
With a sigh, Seth touched the back of his neck and said, "I'll drive you home."
I looked at him, trying tofl figure out whick suprised me more: the fact he knew what I needed even before I did or the way his voice had soften when he talked.
We made our way to the front lawn when a handle grabbed my arm, yanking me back with a force that almost made me stumble.
"You're not going anywhere with him."
I looked up, stunned to see Laurence.
Before I could say anything, Travis was already speaking
"Back of, Zvahl."
I was suprised when I heard the disdain in Travis's voice. It carried the same content that Laurence had of him. I've always thought it was one-sided thing.
"Leave her alone," Laurence replied to Travis before turning his attention back to me. "I'm taking you home."
"No." I shook my head.
"Y/N, come on," Laurence insisted.
I could feel irritation creep into my veins.
"You don't get to tell me what to do," I said with venom in my voice," Come on, Travis."
For a monent, Travis just stood there, eyeing Laurence. I grabbed his hand and tugged at him.
Travis and I hadn't taken more than five steps when Laurence said, "Let me take you home." Then,in a softer voice, he added,
"Please,Y/N."
I didn't even stop to look at him.

I felt the car slowl down to a stop. I opened my eyes and realized we were already at my house. I was about to bolt out of the car when Travis turned to me.
" Laurence Zvahl hates me. Did you see the way he acted earlier?"
"why are we talking about this?" I asked, not bothering to hide my irritation.
"I know you're ot over him," he said, adding,"and he probably knows it, too."
"I'm-"
"You saw the way he acted earlier." Travis cut me off. I could hear the disgust voice. "It's driving him crazy, seeing you with me."
"Where are you going with this?"
He shifted and turned to face me. "I can help you want ti get back at him."
"What are you talking about?"
"Go out with me."
I gave him an incredulous look."You can't be serious."
" Think about it," he said, not once looking away from me.
"It'll drive him crazy."
"You are out of you're mind," I said.
I expected him to put up a fight, but he simply looked at me.
"Thank you." I reached the for the door handle, ready to make my escape, when Travis stopped me. I turned to him. "What?"
"Think about it."
"Fine," I lied." Whatever."
I got out, slamming the door behind me, making sure he knew it wasn't him i was walking away from.
