We all decided to sleep over. The next morning, I prepared breakfast for everyone.
They refused when I offered to help out with the dishes, insisting that I'd done enough by cooking "the best eggs they've ever had," so I sat with Balto and Lala on the front porch after breakfast.
Balto looked exhausted, but there was a spring in his step that told me ha was satisfied with the way the party had turned out.
"I'm so glad everything went well," he said.
"You did good," Lala said, nudging him with her elbow. "She was really happy."
He visibly perked up. "Was she?"
"Yep," Lala and I replied in unison.
"So what happened during that walk the two of you took?" Lala asked.
Balto shrugged and hung his head low. "Nothing. We just...talked."
Lala sighed, dropping her hands to her lap and focusing entirely on Balto. "If the two of you are still not back together after this, I am quitting life."
The easy smile on Balto's face disappeared. "It's fine this way," he said. "I'm just glad wr can still hang out. That's enough for me."
I thought back to what Travis had said about moving on, how it wasn't about forgetting so much as it was about remembering without hurting. If he wad right about that, then he was also right when he said I wasn't over Laurance.
I had been happier, at least ever since the breakup. I wasn't  crying in bathroom stalls or singing to Adele's songs, but I had to admit I wasn't completely over Laurance yet. But if there was one thing I was certain of, it was that hanging out with Travis and the others had helped me out a lot.

I might not be over Laurance yet, but that didn't mean that I wasn't happy either.

After Eclipse practically yelled for everyone to "hurry the f*ck up" and Garroth, who was the last to take a shower, told her to "Calm the f*ck down" from the bathroom, we all field outside to climb into Balto's van.

They refused to tell me what this little "surprise" of their was.
I demanded Travis to spill, but he wouldn't budge.
"Don't sulk," Travis said, nudging my foot with his when I refused to look away from the window. "Trust me. You'll love it."

Sometime between  getting into the van and the others singing tunelessly  to whatever was playing the radio, I fell asleep.

I was woken up by someone gently shaking my shoulder and brushing the hair from my face.

When my eyes fluttered open, I was looking directly into Travis's green eyes. In my semi-asleep state, the full-on grin that suddenly appeared on his face seemed too startling.

"We're here."

I turned to the window, placed both hands against the cool glass, and pressed my forehead against it to get a better look outside. I saw the circular web of metal spinning around, the other structures.

"Seriously?" Travis asked me, but when he saw the embarrassed look on my face, his disbelief turned into reassurance. "Well, cone on then."

He helped me out of the van and once I was out, I felt unsteady on my feet, lightheaded from my nap and from my excitement.

Eclipse as we paid from the entrance at cloud land, Eclipse and Lala dragged me from the guys.

We could see them joking around in front of us, particularly Dante and Balto simultaneously playfully hitting Garroth on the head after he made a really bad joke that none of them found funny.

Lala looked at me, smiling. "So, Travis, huh?"

"I think you and Travis are going to last forever. I just know it," Eclipse added, nudging me with her shoulder.

"Well, that's what you said about you and Balto," Lala deadpanned.

Eclipse just laughed. "Right, I forgot about that."

"What went wrong anyway?" I asked. As soon as the words were out, I immediately wanted to take them back. "Sorry, I didn't mean to-"

Eclipse waved her hand in a dismissive gesture. "It's fine. I just...messed up."

When I looked at her, there was a faint bittersweet smile on her face. Her eyes were fixed on Balto, who was laughing at something Travis was saying when she muttered, "He deserves better," Almost to herself .

Lala lightly hit Eclipse's head. "Cut the bullsh*t. If you still love him, and duh, even a blind person can see that you do, you should just tell him."

How was it possible for Eclipse and Balto to hang out like this without feeling like someone was stabbing them over and over again?

The boys came to an abrupt halt in front of us, waiting until we caught up to them.

Garroth turned to us, buzzing with the energy of an over exited kid. "What are we going to ride first?"

All of a sudden, everyone jumped up to shout out their suggestions. Soon enough, they got into a debate involving the rides.

Travis stepped in between them all, effectively silencing everyone. "Since it's (Your name)'s first time here, why don't we let her decide?"

Everyone turned to look at me.

I panicked and took one step back. "Me?"

"Dude, you should, like, totally pick the viking," Garroth suggested.

"Don't listen to him," Eclipse said. "Let's ride the swans!"

Balto gave her a playful shoulder nudge. "You are such a girl."

"But it's the swans!" she said, crossing her arms over her chest.

Pretty soon, everyone was back to debating. Travis mouthed something to me, and since I didn't know any of the rides, I followed his suggestions. "Lets's try the bump cars?"

Everyone agreed.

I couldn't stop myself from looking around as we walked, marveling at every little thing that caught my attention.

Right next to a colorful corn dog stall, I noticed a little girl, holding hands with her parents. I remembered  myself several years ago, standing in between my mother and father, their hands linked mine.

Taking a deep  breath, I ripped my gaze away from the family and searched for Travis's familiar mop of white grey hair. I searched the crowd of people milling  around the place, but I couldn't  find him or any of our friends  . I finished my phone out of my pocket but I realized that, in my attempt to avoid talking to Mom, I didn't bother to charge it. I'd already sent her a text a few hours ago when Travis refused to drop the topic. When she tried to call, I just let the phone ring until the battery ran out.

Out of options, I decided to look around once more, hoping the bump cars would just miraculously appear in front of me. Just when I was about to ask people for directions, I heard someone calling out my name.

Travis had his phone pressed against his ear as he looked around for me. I was instinctively went toward him, and his eyes locked mine.

"Hey, I couldn't reach you cell," he said when he was near enough.

"Sorry," I replied. "I forgot to charge."

"I didn't notice we left you behind."

"It was my fault," I said. "I got distracted."

"By what?"

I looked down at my hands, afraid to meet his eyes. "I saw this little girl with...with her mom and dad, holding hands with both of them. I just...I just think she's really lucky."

Out of the blue, he took my hand in his.

"You know," he said , one corner of his lip lifting up me a teasing smile. "If you wanted me to hold your hand  that badly, you could just said so."

Appalled, I opened my mouth to deny this, but he cut me off with laugh.

"Relax," he told me. "I'm just joking."

I scowled. "Jokes are supposed to be funny."

He shook his head, undeterred by my clipped response. "I know I'm not you mom or dad." He lifted our joint hands.

"But this should be fine, right?"

"It's not necessary," I said, trying to summon as much hostility as I could as I willed my blush to go away. But I didn't pull my hand away.
